Episode 658 - To Live and Love
Taped: 9/25/22
Plot:
Locke leaves a strip club after spending $100 on the dancing girls. Meanwhile, another driver is ordering sushi while driving on the highway. He swerves all over the road and almost misses his exit. He winds up crashing into Locke, and both vehicles speed out of control. The driver of the other car checks on Locke and calls 911. Knuckles then gets a call from Locke, so he rushes onto the scene to check on him. It turns out Locke's all right and that the accident is the fault of the other driver. His Olds has been totaled, but Locke doesn't care too much about that. Knuckles notices that Locke is crying, something he hasn't done in more than 40 years. Knuckles takes Locke home, where he looks at the carport where the Olds used to be before driving away. Knuckles relays his experience to Sonic and Amy the next day. He decides to visit Locke after the experience, inviting Sonic to come along with him. They dress in safety gear just in case Locke is still his old self. The moment Knuckles opens the door, Locke squeezes him in a bear hug. Locke explains that the near-death experience has reminded him that he doesn't have a lot of time left in this world. He's going to spend his remaining days by being as nice as possible. Knuckles says that he'd love to join him, but he and Sonic have plans. They leave in a hurry and tell their wives about Locke's change of heart. Locke pays Lara-Le a visit, dropping off some food and a fishing reel for Wyn. He next stop is Mace and Marine where he talks about cars for an hour with the former. He then goes to Emerald Coast for a friendly chat with Big the Cat which lasts for several hours. Big telling the gang about how his day went with Locke is enough for Knuckles to draw the line. He and Sonic go to the beach where Locke is building a sandcastle. Knuckles doesn't get through that this new Locke sucks, so he punches Locke in the eye. This is enough for Locke to start beating the crap out of Knuckles. Sonic grabs some ice cream and watches until Locke runs out of energy. Sonic takes a delirious Knuckles back to Garnet Grove. Locke shows up a little while later to apologize for being such a goody two-shoes. Knuckles takes his mind off things by taking him car-shopping with the insurance money. They stop at the junkyard to see Locke's totaled car one last time. Knuckles spots an exact duplicate of his Olds, except it doesn't have a motor. Locke buys it and the engine out of his old one and gets to work. After Knuckles' injuries have healed a week later, Locke drives his car over to Knuckles' house having successfully put it together from the two junkers. They have a brief chat before Locke leaves for the strip club.
Fun Facts:
Locke's new car is identical to his old one other than having a luggage rack on the trunk lid. We learn that any time Locke sees Big he yells at him for something.
