Episode 646 - Saucy Aussie
Taped: 6/5/22
Plot:
Mace works late hours at the law firm, only to be told that he never had to in the first place. Mace is so tired that he mistakes Sonic's house for his own. After Amy points him in the right direction, Mace comes home to a hot dinner cooked by Marine. Mace is taken away by the pasta she made with macadamia nuts and prawns. That night, Mace watches an infomercial promising that he could make millions inventing something. Mace thinks about the dinner he just had, and he considers bringing Marine's special sauce over. The entrepreneur in the commercial, Bob Rankin, announces that his office is right across the street from where Mace works. He brings a jar of it to the office the next day. Mace invites his boss to try some, only to be told that he's allergic to nuts. During his lunch hour, Mace goes across the street to Bob Rankin's office. Bob isn't too thrilled with just trying the sauce himself, so Mace gives him some spaghetti so he can heat it up. Bob thinks Mace might have something going once he tries it on the spaghetti. He gives Mace a final chance to name the sauce, and Mace comes up with "Prawnuts" at a moment's notice. After some negotiating, Bob gives Mace a contract to produce and sell Mace's sauce. After finishing work, Mace drives home to tell Marine the good news. Knuckles, Wynona, and Roger are also there to hear it since they're visiting. Mace gets his first order on a phone... followed by about four thousand others. Marine faints upon seeing this, which prompts Knuckles to step up and tell Mace that what he just did was a bad idea. He asks Mace why he didn't consult with Marine, to which Mace just assumed that she'd like it. Marine comes to, upset that Mace went through this without her consent. Just then, Bob calls Mace on the phone, saying that he has to fulfill well over a million orders in ten days' time. Marine readies her boomerangs, which sends Mace outside of the house until she cools down. At that point, Bob calls Mace again, this time to let him know that he has international orders coming in. Mace checks the emails of his new clients and discovers that they're all coming from the same domain. He decides to have Chaotix tap into their server. To their chagrin, they discover that every one of Mace's customers is coming from Bob's server because they all share the same domain name. Bob becomes so fed up with Mace's lack of response that he sends hit men, Vincenzo and Big Tony, to his house. Chaotix is there waiting for them, and they thwart the attempt to have Mace killed. After some interrogation, Chaotix makes their move to Bob's office where they arrest him as well. Eventually, Mace and Marine watch the new story about Bob's arrest on television. Knuckles pesters Mace to tell him what he's learned through the whole experience. Mace's boss then calls to ask if he can make some more sauce, except a nutless variant so he and his wife can enjoy. Knuckles guides him through what Marine would like: just giving him the recipe without the nuts.
Fun Facts:
We learn that Mace is a bit of a workaholic despite his boss urging him to slow down. We also learn that Mace and Knuckles have the theme songs for 'Where in the World...' and 'Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?" as ringtones respectively.
