Episode 643 - Mama I'm Coming Home
Taped: 5/15/22
Plot:
Amy has to go halfway across the country to pick up a sewing machine that Jenny bought for Elaine. The eBay seller didn't specify that it won't be shipped until it was too late. After Sonic thoroughly inspects his truck, he deems it safe for Amy to take Jenny for the incoming road trip. Jenny leaves Jessie in Bark's care, and the two sisters drive off in the truck. While on the road, Jenny talks about Bark having moved into the house to become a father figure for Jessie. Jenny lets loose some steam about anyone uncomfortable with Bark watching over Jessie just because he's gay. Meanwhile, Sonic enlists Knuckles' help in setting up a new vegetable garden for Amy. Sonic wagers that the rototiller Knuckles borrowed from Locke doesn't work and is proven wrong when Knuckles clears area for the garden. Amy and Jenny cross over into Indiana and get a bite to eat at Outback. Meanwhile, Bark assesses what Jessie is watching on her tablet when there's a knock on the door. An agent from CPS comes in and says there's a complaint about Bark watching over Jessie. The agent talks to Jessie herself and starts grilling her on some questions. She then focuses on Bark and gets his history over how he met Jenny and why she has been trusting him to take care of Jessie. He gives the agent Jenny's contact information, and she calls Jenny up while she and Amy are finding the seller's house. The agent notifies Jenny on the situation, but she becomes swayed when Jenny threatens to hit her with a hammer and hangs up. The sisters arrive at the seller's house and pick up the sewing machine. It turns out the seller is elderly, and his mother is even older which explains why they wouldn't have been able to ship it. Knuckles and Sonic finish setting up the vegetable garden, to the point of spreading industrial strength fertilizer on it. The fertilizer smells so bad that Sonic's kids complain from inside the house. Amy and Jenny find a motel where they catch up with each other about their lives. Amy says she and Sonic have been improving their relationship while Jenny appreciates Bark being there for Jessie. They each agree that they're treating each other like sisters. They spend all day driving back to Station Square and pull into Elaine's that evening. Elaine is happy to see the sewing machine since it's the exact same model her mother used to have. Elaine thanks both her daughters with a hug before they move it into her living room. Amy comes back and tells Sonic that although the garden isn't in the right place, she still appreciates his help. Amy wonders what smells, and Sonic says it's the industrial strength fertilizer in the garden.
