Episode 623 - Night of the Living Eggs
Taped: 10/29/21
Plot:
Knuckles has invited Sonic and Tails to Angel Island for a surprise. Tails flies the Tornado over to where Knuckles has a building set up near his house. Knuckles comes out of his house wearing a suit and invites Sonic and Tails inside the building which turns out to be a studio inside. Knuckles tells him that he's getting back into hosting game shows again, even if it's been 12 years since he last tried one. He's also invited Shadow to announce because his name sounds similar to Shadoe Stevens. Shadow gives the show's opening spiel which reveals that Knuckles is hosting Whew!. Tails and Sonic make all sorts of puns on the show, saying they don't feel like playing the game at all. Sonic decides to charge first, so he meets Shadow backstage to put on his headphones. Meanwhile, Cubot and Orbot walk in on Eggman throwing scrap parts from old robots away. Eggman says it's time to do some cleaning, so he has Cubot and Orbot help him throw all the parts away. They dump the parts at Eggman's own personal dump deep in the jungle, then they leave before a storm rolls in. The power goes out just as Tails loses the game on a longshot, so Knuckles invites Sonic and Tails inside his house until the storm passes. Sonic asks Knuckles if he has a book of ghost stories to pass the time. He does, but it's a kiddie book that belongs to Roger and Wynona. Lightning strikes the scrap pile, fusing all the discarded E-series robots into one. The E fusion starts repairing Eggman's junk machines and revives Bokkun and Zero, inviting both of them to get their revenge against Eggman. They go to Eggman's base together where the newly self-named E-100 Alpha shoots down Eggman with the Egg Viper as he tries to escape on his hovercraft. They then take Cubot and Orbot prisoner, since they're made from Bokkun's remnants. Eggman runs away while they're distracted, and he winds up going to Knuckles' house. Eggman begs Sonic's help because his old creations have gotten out of control. Sonic agrees, only helping him so that he doesn't have to keep putting up with Knuckles. Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow join Sonic and makes quick work out of Zero and Bokkun who shows up driving the Egg Walker. Just when they thought they've won, Alpha shows up in the Egg Viper which is quickly taken out by Sonic. Not ready to accept defeat, Alpha fuse together with the remaining robots to form E-Infinity. Shadow takes charge since he has the seven Chaos Emeralds. He harnesses the emeralds' power and then Chaos Controls them to the top of Red Mountain. Shadow then charges at E-Infinity at full force, knocking it into lava. Eggman congratulates Shadow for melting E-Infinity, because it means the scrap will never be usable again. Eggman thanks Sonic for his help, promising to honor his end of the bargain in case he gets in trouble with Amy. Knuckles seizes the opportunity to go back to his show, making Sonic run through the Gauntlet on Whew!. Sonic wins, but the set spontaneously catches fire in response. Knuckles bemoans the loss of his studio while Sonic and Tails make a break for the Tornado. The studio burns just in time for Rouge to come back with Roger and Wynona.
Fun Facts:
Bokkun is seen for the first time in a canon appearance since Episode 381 - Troubl'in Dublin. E-100 Alpha is a mix of Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta, the original E-series robots from Sonic Adventure. Knuckles hosting Whew! is meant to foreshadow the showdown with all of Eggman's robots as it is similar to the Gauntlet of Villains on said show.
