Episode 621 - Keep on the Sunny Side
Taped: 10/8/21
Plot:
Tails shows Sam how his latest invention works: he uses a Chaos Emerald to speed up and slow down time. He also says he can reverse and advance time, which Sam mistakes for it being a time machine. Sam falls asleep listening to Tails explain how it works. Tails decides to sneak out and explain to Sonic how it works. Sonic keeps nodding to maintain his interest in the invention. Tails tests it out, only for it to rewind time way too far. Tails notices that Cream is heavily pregnant with Sam, realizing that he reverted time back to March 2016 by accident. Tails fast forwards himself and Sonic back to the present, and he promises to work on it more until it's perfected. Tails comes back to put his device away. He then talks Cream into sex with Miles and Sam thinking they might have another sibling soon. While Lightning "manscapes" for Lucy in the bathroom, Sonic Jr. knocks on the door. Sonic Jr. asks Lightning about Tails' invention, to which Lightning dissuades him from investigating. He goes to Tails' house anyway, lying to Amy that he forgot something there. He fumbles for the light switch to Tails' workshop to look for the invention. He discovers an diary written by Tails with entries as for back as when he started following Sonic around to present day, all of which are about douchey things Sonic has done. Sonic Jr. then finds a framed newspaper clipping from when Tails saved the town from a missile strike. He finally spots the device and takes it with him, deciding to fast forward to Saturday and pause time when the sun is out. Amy comes in, saying the kids are on their own for breakfast because she hasn't been getting any sleep. Amy swears that it's only been daytime for as long as she can remember, to which Sonic says it is Saturday he doesn't even know what date it is. Tails wakes up groggy with Miles remarking it's been sunny so long that the grass is getting parched. It dawns on Tails that he left the Chaos Emerald in the time device and that it may have malfunctioned during the night. He looks in his workshop, but he can't seem to find it. Lightning ices his balls with Sonic asking him if all that time impressing Lucy was really worth it. Lightning tries to boast that he's got better endurance than Sonic, but Sonic tells him he should have his limits around Lucy. Amy's stayed up so long that she mistakes Flash for a monkey and gives him a banana. Lightning asks why Amy's been acting that way, to which Sonic blames it on the extended daytime making her sleep deprived. She sends Sonic to find out what happened, and Lightning admits that he heard Sonic Jr. saying he wanted to pay a visit to Tails. While they go to Tails' house, Sonic Jr. has rewound himself to 1978 on the set of Match Game where he plays as a contestant. Tails explains that he never should have left the Chaos Emerald in the machine that Sonic Jr. stole, and that their only hope is if Sonic Jr. hits the reset button. Then, they accidentally discover Sonic Jr. as a contestant on Match Game PM by overhearing a television set. The gang considers finding one of the other six Chaos Emeralds to try and reverse things without Sonic Jr.'s help. However, Sonic Jr. reappears with a bag of money he won from Match Game. Sonic and Tails tell him how he's made their lives and their families' lives a living hell. Sonic Jr. apologizes for messing around with Tails' invention and hits the reset button, sending him back to the moment before he first touched the device. Lightning congratulates Sonic Jr. for doing the right thing, and Amy rewards him by allowing him to stay up until 10 on Fridays. Sonic takes his family back home, and Tails removes the Chaos Emerald from his machine. Tails says he's learned that he shouldn't be messing around with time and make use of what he has right now. Meanwhile Sonic Jr. doesn't quite make it to 10 with Sonic saying he has to get used to the weekends. Amy says they'd better enjoy him being young while they can, before he finds a girlfriend. Amy and Sonic then decide to make love, each agreeing that they're not getting any younger either.
