Episode 584 - Class of 1960
Taped: 10/9/20
Plot:
Locke invites Knuckles and his family over where he cooks chili for them on his stove. He then goes outside to check the mail where he discovers an invitation among several bills. Knuckles opens it for him and discovers that Locke has been invited to his 60-year high school reunion. He and Locke then have an argument with Locke insisting that he won't go. A few days later, Knuckles drives an unwilling Locke to the catering hall where the reunion is being held. Knuckles sees an old flame named Josie that he used to date, and the two start talking again. Josie found someone new after Locke left for Vietnam, and he's at the reunion as well much to their horror. Marshall, Josie's ex-husband wants to rekindle their relationship despite Josie wanting nothing of it. Locke and Marshall get into a fight which ends with Locke sending Marshall underground. Knuckles gets Locke to stop beating him up when he reminds him that Marshall's situation with losing a love isn't that much different than him losing Lara-Le. Locke sees things Knuckles' way and picks Marshall out of the floor. The two exchange apologies and agree to let Josie pick who she wants to be with. She and Locke have sex in the bathroom which ends abruptly when Josie's pacemaker gives out. Locke and Marshall decide to bury the hatchet once and for all, and they each partake in beating up Wyn as a release. They then leave to get beers while Knuckles drives Wyn to the medical center. A few days later, Locke recounts the day he and Josie met to Knuckles. Locke was at a dance when he noticed that Josie's skirt was an inch shorter than all the other girls. They first dance to "Earth Angel" and realize the song isn't appropriate since they're on Angel Island. The guitarist agrees, so he changes the song to "Johnny B. Goode". Knuckles calls him out on ripping off Back to the Future, and he wants to know the real story. They were actually drunk at a party and they had a thing for each other which blossomed into love. Knuckles then says it was boring, prompting Locke to rhetorically ask why he had to make the story more interesting.
Quotes:
Knuckles: What did you get invited to?
Locke: I don't know, probably somebody's funeral. Most of my friends are that age.
