Episode 581 - Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?

Plot:
Lightning comes across a VR headset online but is shocked at the price. He tries buttering up Sonic who tells him that he's at that age where he needs to start working for money. Sonic tells him to trim the hedges, but Lightning trims them down to the roots. His next job is to get rid of the clippings, which he does to a house across the street. They then move inside where Sonic suggests that Lightning clean out his closet. Amy notices what's going on and recommends that Lightning ask his neighbors for help. He goes over to Tails' house where Tails invites him to clean up the renovating leftovers for Cream's new office shed. Tails invites Sonic to show him around the new office and laundry room. Lightning finishes the job in the shed, and Cream pulls in a little while later to inspect. He does such a good job that Tails teaches him how to mow the lawn in his riding lawnmower. After showing him how the mower works, Tails pays him for doing such a good job. The next day, Lightning advertises his services on Facebook. His first job is watching Matthias for Lucy while she's at soccer practice. It almost turns out to be too much to handle, as Lightning has to clean up the bathroom of his feces. He then discovers that Matthias is missing, and he finds him by thinking like him. He also cooks chicken nuggets for dinner with Lucy coming home while he's eating. Lightning wants to do more with Lucy, but she has homework and her mother will be home soon. He then gets another offer on his phone to walk a neighbor's dog. The neighbor's had his leg injured in a car accident and warns Lightning that he can't keep up with Lucky, his dog. The walk is fairly normal, except for Lucky having puppies in the middle of it. The days pass, and soon Lightning is just $100 from buying the headset. Lightning's next job is on Angel Island where he has to help Knuckles watch over Locke. Knuckles wants Lightning there to make sure Locke doesn't go crazy from his meds. Locke has Lightning lube his car and clean his foot which has an ingrown mushroom in it. He makes Lightning some beef stew that expired in 2004 just as Knuckles comes back. Knuckles rewards Lightning with the final $100 he needs to buy the headset. He rushes back home where he discovers that the headset is sold out. Flash, Amber, and Sonic Jr. attempt to cheer him up by telling him how proud they are of him. Lightning takes Sonic Jr. outside and chases him around. At that point, Sonic comes outside with the headset, having bought it before it sold out. Lightning agrees to pay his share of it since it was on sale. While he goes upstairs to try it out, Amy and Sonic agree not to tell him they were going to buy it anyway as a birthday present.
