Episode 578 - Crystal Springs Home for the Crotchety
Taped: 8/28/20
Plot:
Knuckles and Rouge look through an old family album, noticing that Locke has looked the same for the past twenty years. Knuckles admits that he's getting worried about Locke since he's now in his late 70s and that he may not be as sharp as he has been. Rouge suggests putting him in a retirement home with Knuckles thinking he may not be sold on the idea. Knuckles pays Locke a visit only to find him asleep in his chair with the television on for the past five hours. Knuckles worries that this may be a lapse but Locke insists that he's all right. The two then take separate cars back to Knuckles' house where Locke nearly gets into numerous accidents on the way. While Locke plays board games with Roger and Wynona, Knuckles relays his experience to Rouge. Locke overhears the two planning to put him in a home and he storms out. Knuckles then invites Sonic over to watch a typical day at Locke's house. Sonic is convinced that Locke needs help after he fails to notice the shed key hanging right in front of him and calling a pizza place instead of Knuckles' cell phone number. Knuckles decides that enough is enough so he and Rouge lure Locke from his house with the promise that they're going to Arby's for lunch. Locke doesn't like the home after being given a tour, but promises Knuckles that he'll give it a chance. Knuckles leaves him there for a week-long free trial period. In between, he and Rouge pays Sonic and Amy a visit to check up on their addition. The two couples then go to Locke's house to clean up. Sonic looks at his food supply while Amy and Rouge go through his bedroom and closet. While going through Locke's important papers, Knuckles finds a recent medical document that shows he's been prescribed cholesterol pills as a result of a recent blood test. He reads the list of side effects, one of which is short-term memory loss. Knuckles and Rouge rush to the home and take Locke back. Locke, who was right in insisting that he was fine all along, dumps his pills down the drain. Locke tells Knuckles that he'll let him know when he's ready for a home. Knuckles apologizes for rushing into things, but not before dropping a few remarks at Locke's expense. Knuckles and Rouge close out the episode by watching Locke play board games with his grandkids.
