Episode 577 - TNAoSTH Around the World 5
Taped: 8/21/20
Plot:
Cream takes over Sonic's role as host since he hasn't been getting much sleep lately. She and Knuckles introduce the next series of International shorts, starting with New Zealand.
New Zealand: Shadow admires his territory on his beach until Sonic drops by. Shadow takes it as a challenge, so they have a surfing contest while speaking in New Zealander slang. Shadow does some tricks on a wave, but Sonic impresses him even further by surfing while hanging ten constantly. Shadow gives up his beach just in time for Phil Rudd to stop by. Sonic jumps off his board and he smokes weed with Phil Rudd to end the short.
Iceland: Sonic is relaxing in a hot spring when Eggman announces his latest plan to blow up Iceland with a volcano called Eyjafjallajökull. Tails files by the the Tornado and Sonic hops on. Eggman readies his bomb which Sonic believes he can destroy with music Bjork-style. While the Tornado gets chased by a robotic dragon deployed by Eggman, Sonic jumps off and defeats Eggman by homing-attacking him in a rhythm. The bomb explodes prematurely, defeating Eggman with its blast and destroying the dragon which Sonic calls gnarly.
Spain: Sonic gets volunteered to get into a bullfight with a notoriously wild bull (Omega) despite being scared out of his wits. Sonic speaks only in Spanish and somehow manages to straggle the bull and ride him. Sonic gains the upper hand despite being thrown off. Sonic has one last trick up his sleeve, throwing a red sheet and yelling "Toro!" to taunt the bull. The bull takes the bait and runs right into the sheet which Sonic discards just in time. The bull gets his horns stuck in the nearby wall and Sonic wins the bullfight.
Mongolia: Eggman notices that Sonic has started building a wall to keep the Mongols out of China. He has his army break down the wall several times only for Sonic to rebuild it in a few days time each time. Eggman mobilizes a bigger army with each attempt but Sonic is still able to rebuild his wall from scratch. Sonic explains that his wall is based on that of a certain orange man whose prophecy will be foretold hundreds of years later. Eggman admits defeat after being unsuccessful in invading China.
Laos: Shadow, Silver, Tails, and Knuckles marvel at someone new moving into their home land. It turns out the new homeowner is Sonic who has grown ornery of the capitalistic lifestyle of America. Despite this, Sonic is still proud of his American heritage, having moved to Laos to rub his higher economic status in on his neighbors. He is also drawn into the prospect of the government finding him a job due to him losing his in the midst of the pandemic. He also clears up some stereotypes Laotians have of Americans, specifically the guns they use and the food they eat.
Everybody dances to "Conga" by Gloria Estafan to end the episode. Sonic, despite his bad back, rides Omega in the meanwhile.
Fun Facts:
