Episode 572 - It's a Revolution I Suppose
Taped: 7/3/20
Plot:
Tails and Cream introduce the episode from the TNAoSTH Classics set, saying that Independence Day and Canada Day are being celebrated at once since their dates are so close to each other with Cream giving an explanation of Canada Day. The main story begins with Mayor O'Brien asking Sonic to participate in this year's Revolutionary War re-enactment. Previously, he didn't get the invitations because Amy told the mayor no over the phone. The mayor threatens to revoke Sonic's building permit if he doesn't go through with the re-enactment. Sonic reluctantly agrees, promising to bring as many friends as we can. Amy tells him that her appearance is out of the question since she's so close to her due date. She, Knuckles, and Tails try to convince Sonic that the mayor may be bluffing on his threat but they partake in the re-enactment anyway. Sonic and his friends get fitted for their uniforms before discovering that Eggman and his robots are playing the parts of the British redcoats. First, they re-enact the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Paul Revere's ride. Eggman and his robots start firing some actual guns, which is against the rules of the re-enactment. Knuckles sees no reason to play by the rules if Eggman isn't going to, so he talks Sonic and Tails into attacking Eggman's robots with their Sonic Heroes' Power formation. A giant mech then rises from beneath the ground with the Union Jack on it. Amy realizes they need more help, so she has Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles round up the other teams from Sonic Heroes. Team Dark and Team Rose attack with their power formations to no avail. Eggman is weakened by Team Chaotix's team blast, giving Team Sonic the inspiration to do the same. Big almost injures Amy while attacking Eggman but she assures him that she's okay. Knuckles and Vector shoot their teammates to Eggman who flies away swearing revenge. Eggman indeed comes back with four airships. The teams split up and look for the self-destruct devices Eggman placed on each airship. The four teams find the tracking devices and use their power formations, with Team Sonic being the last before Eggman can nuke Station Square. The mayor thanks them for all their effort but is met with resistance when he asks to do it again next year. In spite of this, they agree it was great to work together to spread a message of hope during a pandemic. Eggman gets blasted to Indiana where he winds up meeting Slippers who was on his way to find Taryl in hopes of buying a pull rope for his minibike. Back on the Classics set, Tails and Cream wish everyone a Happy July 4th and Canada Day as everyone dances to James Brown's "Living in America" to close out the episode.
Fun Facts:
We learn that while it's rare for Big to get angry, he will when someone takes away or destroys his food. This also marks the rare occasion of all 4 classic teams from Sonic Heroes appearing at once within this series.
