Episode 560 - Easter Imposter
Taped: 4/10/20
Plot:
Sonic and Tails help Cream disinfect the last of her shipments before they leave on Easter morning. Tails decides to check the news only to discover a commercial for a new and improved Easter shipping service by Lars Rabbitson called E-ster. Cream is outraged and decides to call the chairman of the Council of Holiday Entities to voice her displeasure. While he reassures her that she is still the Easter Bunny, he has no legal obligation to stop Lars from running his business. Cream then sees a drone heading to Lightning's window, prompting Sonic to find out why. It turns out Lightning ordered electronics from the app, much to Sonic's disappointment. Sonic gives a lecture on why he shouldn't request such a large wish list without his or Amy's approval. He also lets Lightning know that he just helped in potentially putting Cream out of a job for Easter. Amy then sees the trucks carrying out Cream's shipments and tells her that everything will be just fine, knowing another year is under the belt. The next day, Lars appears on a news report to talk about E-ster. He says business has been booming with half a million new orders in the last 24 hours alone. Amy wonders how Lars can afford to send all the gifts with Cream's candy getting paid for by the backend of its companies. Cream then gets a whole slew of texts from her family, friends, children from around the world, and even a few politicians encouraging her. The chairman's car then pulls up with bad news: she must be investigated because an anonymous tipped them off that she was embezzling funds. Since detective agencies are considered an essential business, Cream calls on Chaotix to investigate the case. She tells Chaotix that she suspects that Lars gave the anonymous tip. They take a look at Lightning's presents and discover that they are Chinese knockoffs which explains how Lars obtained them at such a cheap price. They also find out that Cream is listed as Lars' accountant for E-ster, so they go to the council to investigate. The chairman isn't sold until Vector shows him his badge and Charmy shows his stinger. They access the council's network system only to discover that their computer system is horrendously outdated and someone is accessing it remotely. They trace the IP to an address in Station Square and confirm that Lars has been logging in from his house. Lars is arrested for identity theft and embezzling funds from the council, and his E-ster app is pulled from the market. The kids enjoy their Easter baskets and Cream received all sorts of texts thanking her for her hard work. Tails then reveals his own Easter treat for Cream: that he went through with the vasectomy. The chairman pulls into the driveway to thank Cream for her service and to bestow the title of chairwoman on her. Cream turns it down, not wanting to be faced with even more work for later Easter seasons. Amy shows Tails and Cream a picture of her ultrasound, having just entered her third trimester.
Fun Facts:
Cream was briefly appointed chairwoman of the Council of Holiday Entities but turned it down with the position going to someone else who has yet to be named.
