******THIS THREAD IS CURRENTLY MAINTAINED BY KOOPAKID17 AND WILL BE UPDATED WHEN NECESSARY!******
Welcome to TNAoSTH! You may have questions regarding the overall plot but this thread should help you out. The story has been written since episode one but it is constantly changing with each session. Though this does not explain every character in detail, it gives a basic history of the major plot lines from who's who in the story. If an episode is noteworthy, it will be referenced here, but only the important story lines will be covered in this section. The show takes place in the present day with most of the characters now grown up. The characters go through adult situations, the kind that the Sonic universe (specifically the Sega universe) would never really touch. Most of the main characters live in Station Square, a popular metropolis with many different areas of interest, with a select few living on Angel Island, and even some in other cities or the jungle.
One thing that hasn't changed is Sonic continually saving Mobius from the wrath of his enemies. Among them are Eggman, and his former robot lackey, Bokkun, whom he constantly abuses. Their plans to turn the city into his own playground, Eggmanland, always end in disaster, thanks to Sonic's quick feet and wit. Eggman sometimes reuses his past inventions and devices to the same results each time (EPISODE 637) It has come to a point where Sonic can even defeat Eggman without the use of his machines (EPISODES 282 & 390). Sometimes, Sonic can't resist making Eggman suffer, particularly when he has hard times of his own (EPISODE 254). There have also been times where Bokkun has tried to gain the upper hand, only to find that Eggman is in complete control of him (EPISODE 315). Tired of Bokkun's incompetence, Eggman disposed of him in favor of a pair of henchbots: the dimwitted Cubot and the genius Orbot (EPISODE 381). Eggman has had the misfortune of attempted overthrow by his own discarded robots (EPISODE 623) and his clones (EPISODE 659). On rare occasions, Eggman's medical background has made him on call save the world, much to Sonic's dismay (EPISODE 559). Eggman was also unprepared on what to do if he won against Sonic, but he showed a human side when he thought Sonic broke a leg (EPISODE 585). There are also times where Eggman can be good if he wants to be (EPISODE 669). Sonic has also provided assistance to Eggman just so their rivalry can continue (EPISODE 678, 706).
Eggman isn't alone in giving Sonic a hard time. Sonic has also dealt with the fury of Mephiles the Dark (EPISODE 178), an antagonistic hedgehog who tried to overthrow Eggman (EPISODE 251). The creepy Tails Doll, despite trying to prove himself to be a competent villain, is really no more annoying than a threat (EPISODE 278) and the conniving thief Fang the Sniper (EPISODE 295). Fang's actions have ranged from voyeurism on Sonic and Amy (EPISODE 317) to getting a little close while taking a dancing lesson (EPISODE 323). Sonic has also faced the wrath of Alex Kidd, Sega's former mascot who became jealous of the Blue Blur's success (EPISODE 380), and Axel from Crazy Taxi who accuses Sonic of taking over his territory (EPISODE 423). Eggman is unhappy with his obesity and is revealed to be a fighter who is as agile as Sonic without his excess weight (EPISODE 504).
Sonic also remains close with his two siblings, sister Sonia and brother Manic, who live in a swamp and primarily babysit Sonic and Amy's children from time to time. They still even play music together, forming the band Sonic Underground (EPISODE 189, 328). The three siblings have been on the lookout for signs that their mother, Queen Aleena, may be alive and well (EPISODE 258, 337, 562 & 564). After years of searching, they finally discover that Aleena was a model and that she put them up for adoption to focus on her career (EPISODE 660). Manic has had terrible luck with women, though that hasn't stopped him from trying time after time (EPISODE 496). Manic has also been self-conscious about his receding hairline until he got a successful hair transplant (EPISODE 593, 634). After years of being unsatisfied with faking his performance on Sonic Underground, Sonic has been learning to play the guitar (EPISODE 356, 369). Sonic is distant from the Freedom Fighters in Knothole Village (Sonic Returns Miniseries) but they still periodically keep in touch (EPISODE 231).
Amy's mother, Elaine, also occasionally stops by the babysit (EPISODE 210, 239) and is usually there to resolve family disputes (EPISODE 226). Amy also has a older sister, Jenny, who was formerly raging alcoholic and drove those around her crazy with her boorish behavior, especially Elaine and Sonic (EPISODE 210). Jenny lives in a condo in Grand Metropolis due to a settlement with her ex-boyfriend. In spite of this Amy and Jenny fondly remember their father Whitey who passed way while they were growing up (EPISODE 404). After a night of hard partying nearly killed her, Jenny checked herself into rehab (EPISODE 420) and eventually cleaned up her act for good (EPISODE 427, 452, 466). Her becoming pregnant and later giving birth to her first child, a daughter named Jessie (EPISODE 454) was also one of the reasons she decided to kick the habit. Jenny has been looking for a father figure to raise her daughter (EPISODE 452, 535, 574, 611, 627, 655, 685, 717) but she is okay with her family helping her for the time being. Jenny is close friends with Bark the Polar Bear whom Jessie sees as pretty close to a substitute father (EPISODE 611) to the point where they now live together (EPISODE 643). She even puts up with Bark's hobby as a drag performer (EPISODE 676). Amy also has a cousin named Axl through her father's brother, and figured out the hard way why nobody in the family likes talking about him (EPISODE 458).
Sonic also still has his sidekick and best friend since childhood, Miles Prower, commonly known as "Tails" because of his two tails. He creates machines that rival Eggman's ability, such as his biplane known as the Tornado, but has his moments of absent-mindedness. After implying that he and the good-natured, mildly autistic Cream the Rabbit showed some feelings for each other, an incident where their love blossomed out of control resulted in the couple accidentally conceiving a child (EPISODE 176). Nine months later, Cream gave birth to a baby boy named Miles "Tails" Prower Jr., after his father's given name (EPISODE 208). Soon after, Tails proposed to Cream (EPISODE 224) and they eventually got married (EPISODE 237). The family now lives in a house together with Cream achieving her career in graphic design after graduating from online school (EPISODE 250). Cream also took on the job of Easter Bunny with all her friends helping her deliver candy and eggs to children (EPISODE 230, 284, 332, 433, 716). She has been recognized for her efforts to bring happiness to children each year (EPISODE 640). Miles, who wears glasses (EPISODE 478), is shown to be a creative genius just like his father as he built his own robot at the age of two (EPISODE 361). Cream had to juggle the birth of their second child, Sam, around their Easter Bunny duties (EPISODE 382) and Tails even filled in for her on one occasion (EPISODE 476). Sam and Miles want to be just like their parents, going as far as trying in the latest fads they take part in (EPISODE 441, 443). Sam can fly by circling his ears like Tails' helicopter tails (EPISODE 549). Sonic's friendship with Tails gets tested more often than not (EPISODE 665, 721), but they still come through for each other (EPISODE 712).
Sonic and Tails can also rely on Knuckles the Echidna if they're in a jam. Knuckles is formerly the guardian of the Master Emerald, a jewel that controls the Chaos Emeralds and unifies them as one. On occasion, his gullibility gets himself and the gang into huge trouble, but his ability to dig and break things with the spiked knuckles on his fists more than makes up for it. He along with Sonic and Tails still show their original form in their Sonic Heroes trio and can even perform their Team Blast (EPISODE 103). He has also dated Rouge the Bat, an orphaned (EPISODE 287) seductive jewel thief whose breasts have been subject to ridicule but are known to possess special powers (EPISODES 75 & 169). Rouge was encouraged to hunt for treasure by her late mother (EPISODE 447). After thinking they were faced with the end of the world, they eloped (EPISODE 217), moved into a house on Angel Island (EPISODE 242, 341) and are raising twins (EPISODE 298). Their bat son Roger has the characteristics of Rouge while their daughter Wynona has inherited Knuckles' abilities. Roger and Wynona are currently co-guardians of the Master Emerald, having inherited the role from Knuckles (EPISODE 724). Rouge traditionally wears her jumpsuit because normal clothes can't support her breasts (EPISODE 434). Rouge wears makeup because she was mistaken for being a boy when she was growing up (EPISODE 713). While Knuckles was the primary guardian of the Master Emerald, Rouge had been known to substitute for him on occasion (EPISODE 336). Knuckles can also use the Master Emerald for other powers, such as splitting himself up (EPISODE 469).
Knuckles' ancestors lived thousands of years in the past in the former Mystic Ruins. Pachacamac ruled his empire with an iron fist, not caring if his daughter Tikal stood in the way. Tikal discovered that she was a lesbian at an early age (EPISODE 431), upsetting Pachacamac who tried everything he could to convert her (EPISODE 431, 686). Pachacamac met his demise by upsetting Chaos, almost taking the entire Knuckles clan with him. Tikal sacrificed herself to the Master Emerald to appease Chaos. Today she is able to time travel using hintballs to help Sonic and his friends. Sonic's female allies merely tolerate Tikal's presence because of her overtly lesbian behavior.
Also in the neighborhood is Chaotix Detective Agency, which consists of Espio, an ice cream obsessed purple chameleon that can turn invisible (EPISODE 113), their leader, the strong and good-hearted Vector the Crocodile, and drug addict (EPISODE 61), Charmy Bee. The agency tries to solve mysteries but usually interferes with the rest of the gang's plans though they come through in the end. Vector has had a hard time adjusting to technology and had to be cajoled by the rest of the agency to update their technology (EPISODE 437). Chaotix also has a band (EPISODE 126) which has had varying degrees of success. A sold-out concert (EPISODE 218) and their own practice room (EPISODE 272) has put them on the right track. There have been a few setbacks involving trouble with performance venues (EPISODE 293, 541, 573, 689), the death of one of their performers Ray the Squirrel (EPISODE 126), accidents involving the band members (EPISODES 307 & 406), competition with other crime-fighting bands (EPISODE 503) and Espio trying his hand at lead vocals (EPISODE 579). Vector's workaholic tendencies have sometimes clouded his judgment, to the point where his friends have questioned if some cases were really worth it (EPISODE 548, 671, 704).
The core of Chaotix formed when Espio regretted incinerating a bee's nest and took care of the egg which would eventually hatch into Charmy (EPISODE 281). Aside from Charmy, two other bees were known to survive the nest fire but later passed away after Charmy met them (EPISODE 392, 683). Mighty the Armadillo also tags along to help solve cases in spite of his OCD (EPISODE 638, 715). At one point, Espio lived on his own with a wife and child but was frequently thrown out of the house to the point where he coped by eating ice cream (EPISODE 463). After his wife and son were killed, he moved back in with Chaotix in the slums of Station Square (EPISODE 102) until the agency moved to Vanilla's house as an addition (EPISODE 132). Espio's ice cream obsession has threatened his health at least once (EPISODE 472), although it did help him get Chaotix off the ground when they needed the financial support (EPISODE 576). Charmy had a brief look at a sober life along with a girlfriend in Sonia before she dumped him, turning him back to drugs (EPISODES 148-164). Later on, Charmy discovered he had a biological brother who also survived his home getting destroyed (EPISODE 392).
After years of searching, Vector is discovered to be the father of Cream and he soon gets together with her mother, the polite and helpful Vanilla. Her house was then redone with a new area and the Chaotix moved their business, and living conditions there (EPISODE 116). They also get married and have a crocodile daughter named Charisma (EPISODE 137) before Vanilla hit menopause (EPISODE 421). Charisma is known to be adept at problem-solving (EPISODE 465) and sleuthing (EPISODE 600). Along with inheriting Vector's strength (EPISODE 269), Charisma also knows how to keep things in control (EPISODE 462). She has also proven adept in helping her friends solve mysteries (EPISODE 600, 656). Vanilla raised Charisma the same way she raised Cream, although she became more hands-off with some encouragement from Vector (EPISODE 582). Vector has proven that he knows what his wife to keep their relationship going (EPISODE 268), and his quick-thinking even saved her life once (EPISODE 533). Vanilla is civic-minded and once ran for mayor in an attempt to stop Eggman from running Station Square (EPISODE 413). Vanilla also holds her late baking mother, Butter with high regard as she was also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother (EPISODE 448).
In another area in Station Square, lies the Happy Hills Apartments (EPISODE 81) on Maynard Street. Gay hedgehog Junkaholic, the son of Scrapoholic, formerly lived in a house which he calls The Junk Yard before moving to Long Valley (EPISODE 498). Junkaholic can perform abilities with Chaos Emeralds but at one point, had another, more lethal, alter ego. By harnessing the negative energy of the 7 Chaos Emeralds or drinking a bottle of tequila (EPISODE 77) he could transform into Junkzilla (EPISODE 1), a monster that constantly left a trail of destruction. This ability was actually a curse bestowed upon Junkaholic when greatly upset a beast at age 3½ (EPISODE 134). After removing the curse, Junkaholic now instead turns into Super Junkaholic with all 7 emeralds by using the positive energy (EPISODE 134). After gay marriage was legalized in Station Square, Junkaholic married his boyfriend Stormy (EPISODE 122) until their divorce when Stormy moved back to wind valley (EPISODE 257). Unlike Junkaholic, Stormy did not want to be evil and chose instead to help the good guys, much to Junkaholic's disgust. Junkaholic has retired from being a villain and has joined the good side though it doesn't come to him as naturally. He has also pursued a career in comedy by starring in his own variety show (EPISODE 308). Junkaholic disappeared for a while but came back and revealed a dark past involving his family and a former lover (EPISODE 396). Junkaholic was revealed to be the father of Jenny's daughter (EPISODE 454) but gave up his legal rights although he pledged to help whenever he can. Stormy had a powerful but seldom used ability to summon very severe thunderstorms (EPISODE 101). He also has a brother named Renegade who returned from war in Robotropolis (EPISODE 49) to become guardian of Windy Valley (EPISODE 75).
In the space colony ARK, there lives another sometimes evil, sometimes good hedgehog, Shadow (EPISODE 98). He was created by Eggman's grandfather, Prof. Gerald Robotnik, in 1948 to be the "Ultimate Lifeform" and calls Junkaholic his "impostor" due to their near identical appearances (Shadow has red stripes and not purple like Junkaholic). He pulled himself together after being driven to depression over the death of two lost loves, a pet store hedgehog named Cuddles (EPISODE 22) with whom he had a child that also died, and his former companion Maria (EPISODE 78). After years of searching, he was able to discover that he had biological hedgehog parents (EPISODE 614). Though he is a neutral character, he helps Sonic and his friends when they need it and is grateful to spend holidays with them (EPISODE 416). At one point, he and Charmy became rivals for Sonia's affection when he confessed his love to her and, after causing a dating competition between the bee and him, had caused Sonia to dump both of them (EPISODE 164). Sonia later developed feelings for Espio again and once tried to spend New Year's with him even though he was on a case (EPISODE 319). They eventually hit it off that Valentine's Day after Espio's failed erotic novel (EPISODE 376) and after much cajoling became engaged (EPISODE 432). They later called it off and had a pretend ceremony instead with both agreeing commitment wasn't the best way to go (EPISODE 514). Their relationship became more active after the pandemic (EPISODE 662, 679), to the point where they welcomed a daughter named Scarlet (EPISODE 692).
Another couple involves Blaze the Cat and Silver the Hedgehog. Blaze is a princess from another dimension with the ability to summon fire while Silver is a bumbling but likeable fellow from the future. Silver who does quirky and random things, sometimes unintentional, that royally screw the others up. He later revealed he was sent back in time to be in pace with everyone of his intelligence (EPISODE 334). Silver can use telekinesis to freeze things and throw them or to hover in midair for a period of time. Although Silver often drives Blaze crazy with his misunderstandings, just the fact that Silver is not a total oaf (EPISODE 114, 675) keeps them together. The pair often appeared to be horny most of the time until they unexpectedly ended up with a child, Platinum the Hedgecat (EPISODE 102). They eventually did get married (EPISODE 192) and lived in a high rise apartment in Station Square until they moved into the suburbs (EPISODE 360). Silver also deals with his wife's formerly Jewish parents, Sheila and Harold (EPISODE 135) from time to time who raised Blaze despite not being born Jewish herself (EPISODE 424). Silver, having been an atheist, converted to being full time Jewish after Blaze's parents visited for Christmas (EPISODE 135) but after a while could not understand it at all before renouncing his faith (EPISODE 214). Platinum has an affinity for science (EPISODE 414) and possesses telekinetic and pyrokinetic powers (EPISODE 233, 580). Blaze eventually revealed that she and Silver hid their pregnancy with Platinum due to Blaze due to her being too afraid to tell her parents (EPISODE 455). Blaze later also renounced her faith and convinced her parents to do the same (EPISODE 285). By the time Platinum turned five, the gang realized how bright he was after subjecting him to an IQ test (EPISODE 334). He tried going to advanced school but preferred to be with his friends in his own grade (EPISODE 580). Platinum also has a knack for stand-up comedy and won a talent show at his school to prove it (EPISODE 372). He also has shown an interest in sports statistics despite not being very good at sports (EPISODE 521). After nearly a decade of trying, Silver and Blaze finally had a second child, a daughter named Phire (EPISODE 528).
On Angel Island not far from Knuckles' home is his father Locke's house. Locke formerly lived in a trailer he had since 1964 before moving into a nicer house bought for him by Knuckles (EPISODE 497). Locke had Knuckles with Lara-Le when they were married but separated shortly after his birth. Lara-Le divorced Locke and eventually met and married Wynmacher who helped raised Knuckles as if he was his own. Locke and Knuckles try to catch up on father/son bonding (EPISODES 18, 191, 410, 539, 578, 672) but a rift revealing that Locke having an abusive father brought back bad memories of how he used to treat Knuckles (EPISODE 449). Locke has proven to be a terrific grandfather to Roger and Wynona (EPISODE 341, 484, 578) to the point where Wyn feels the need to get involved (EPISODE 398). Locke had tried being a normal father to Knuckles only to be separated constantly by Lara-Le (EPISODE 485). Wyn and Locke were at each other's throats so much that Lara-Le ran away from them during Thanksgiving, and it took Knuckles to get them to make up (EPISODE 543). There are also times where they truly enjoy each other's company (EPISODE 647, 658). Roger and Wynona can climb and scale walls just like their parents (EPISODE 407) and can use the shovel claw just like their father (EPISODE 426). Lara-Le and Wyn eventually gave Knuckles a half-brother, Knecapeon Mace or Mace for short. Wyn and Lara-Le live elsewhere on Angel Island, near Red Mountain. Their son Mace attended Yuji Naka University (EPISODE 470) and is in a relationship with with Marine the Raccoon, a neighbor of Sonic (EPISODE 394). Mace eventually graduated and moved in with Marine at Garnet Grove (EPISODE 616). They eventually got married (EPISODE 708) and are expecting their first child (EPISODE 713).
Swen and Eric, a gay echidna and fox respectively, live across the street from Chaotix occasionally jump in to help the good guys. Eric has been lead guitarist for their band (EPISODE 126) after they decided they needed a replacement for the deceased Ray the Flying Squirrel. Though he doesn't help them regularly due to his illiteracy, he and Swen still contribute whenever they are needed. Sometimes, they prove to be more trouble than they're worth, bringing an entire army of pumpkin monsters from Pumpkin Hill once. (EPISODE 311). Eric, a heavy smoker since he was a teenager, suffered a heart attack at an early age and underwent a successful heart transplant (EPISODE 223). Swen teaches Eric to read and write and they get married after Swen accepts Eric's hand-written marriage proposal (EPISODE 425). Eric has two siblings: a sister named Stacy and a brother named Greg who has Parkinson's Disease (EPISODE 620). Wanting a child of their own, they hire Amy to be a surrogate (EPISODE 537) and have taken parenting classes to prepare for the arrival (EPISODE 570). Swen and Eric are the proud parents of a toddler fox/echidna hybrid named Stevie (EPISODE 573). To make ends meet, Swen has taken on odd jobs such as nude art (EPISODE 618).
Station Square has dealt with disasters caused not by villains but also by nature. A flea outbreak once hit Station Square, requiring assistance from Bob Barker (EPISODE 280). The mayor once built a wall in a shoddy attempt to solve an ant problem (EPISODE 510). Station Square has also been affected by real-world crises such as the coronavirus pandemic (EPISODE 559-576). Sonic has been called on numerous times to save holidays, most commonly Christmas (EPISODE 35, 36, 87, 135, 216, 267, 318, 369, 419, 464, 546, 591, 629) but also Easter (EPISODE 53, 184, 230, 284, 332, 433, 518, 560, 602, 680), Independence Day (EPISODE 193, 572, 610, 649) and even Passover (EPISODE 285). Chaotix and Sonic even had to deal with the horrors of Black Friday (EPISODE 365, 588). The gang once had to contend against video game glitches that came out of the blue (EPISODE 571). The gang also helped Drew Carey produce The Price is Right in Station Square (EPISODE 723).
Sometimes, our characters will travel outside of Station Square or Angel Island and have adventures on Earth. The gang has been to Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick's Day (EPISODE 48, 147), to Canada to celebrate Canada Day (EPISODE 690) and for a trip to Niagara Falls (EPISODE 722) to England for a month-long holiday (SONIC U.K. MINISERIES) and even saved the United States from being recolonized by England (EPISODE 193). Other episodes take place in outer space, most commonly the Space Colony ARK (where Shadow was created and currently lives) and the Black Comet (where Black Doom, Shadow's "mother", lives) are found in space. Our heroes have also traveled to other places, met famous people and celebrities, and have even appeared in television game shows (EPISODE 43, 123, 346-349, 399, 446, 621, 623).
In conclusion, TNAoSTH involves the same Sonic the Hedgehog characters you know and love, just with them now living adult lives. The storyline branches out from adjusting with family life to dealing with situations such as addiction. The core is still the same as the Sonic universe with the ever-present battle between good and evil with our heroes always triumphant. Though the history has always been changing and the story will never be final, it has presented memories that will last a lifetime.
The blue blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog, is still his quick as lightning self, able to make use of many item boxes (EPISODE 438) and perform his special moves: the Spin Dash and the Lightspeed Dash (EPISODE 108). Even though his size 10½ shoes are one of a kind (EPISODE 111), he now lives in a suburb of Station Square known as Garnet Grove at 433 Emerald Avenue. He still performs heroic duties and must balance that with his friends, rivals, fame, and his family, not to mention his continued love of chilidogs. After years of pursuit, Amy Rose finally married Sonic (EPISODE 1) and they are now parents of four children. The family has adjusted to suburban life with Amy driving the family around in a van and later a Mercedes SUV (EPISODE 510) and Sonic getting by with a pickup truck (EPISODE 423). Sonic gets over his aquaphobia when he and his children are taught to swim (EPISODE 427). Sonic always tries to do the right thing, even if he and his allies have to pay the price for it (EPISODE 665). Sonic and Amy have tried improve their relationship for the sake of their children (EPISODE 459) despite their feelings for marriage not being mutual (EPISODE 536, 537, 538). However, when his reputation is threatened, Amy will still defend Sonic without a second thought (EPISODE 511, 565).
Sonic and Amy's eldest son is named Lightning (EPISODE 1) followed by boy/girl twins, Flash and Amber (EPISODE 74). Their youngest son Sonic Jr. (EPISODE 249) stops at nothing to be just like his dad (EPISODE 367, 570). Before Lightning was born, Sonic and Amy thought he was going to be a girl (EPISODE 632). Despite Sonic Jr. looking more like his father, he takes after Amy more with regards to her abilities (EPISODE 487), although he can still perform moves like the spin dash (EPISODE 544) and the blue tornado (EPISODE 635). Much like the rest of the cast, Sonic is employed by Sega and has given his children a taste of what his work is like (EPISODE 408). Due to their growing family, they were forced to expand their house (EPISODE 291). Lightning owns his own Let's Play channel on YouTube, reaching out to PewDiePie (EPISODE 306), JackSepticEye (EPISODE 381) and Markiplier (EPISODE 445). A fan of rock music, Lightning has also hosted his Facebook friends' concerts in his own bedroom (EPISODE 494). Lightning is also shown to be manipulative to his siblings, especially the imaginative Flash (EPISODE 444, 568). However, all four of Sonic's kids have proven to hold their own when working together (EPISODE 688). Now in high school (EPISODE 664), Lightning is old enough to challenge Sonic on his speed and stamina abilities (EPISODE 473). He can also drive a car (EPISODE 664) performs with the Sonic Underground band (EPISODE 666) and has a mature voice that sounds like Sonic's (EPISODE 701). Lightning has grown fond of a student named Lucy since they've met in Kindergarten (EPISODE 509, 523) which has blossomed since he has gone through puberty (EPISODE 532, 536, 542). Lucy lives with her brother Matthias and their divorced mother Lydia (EPISODE 566) who once had a relationship with Manic (EPISODE 677). Matthias hasn't come to grips with having divorced parents at such a young age, but Lydia taking steps to help him adjust (EPISODE 719). Lucy can also perform hedgehog abilities such as spin-dashing (EPISODE 714). Amber and Flash have shown interest in music with the former taking dancing lessons (EPISODE 460, 469) and the latter playing the violin (EPISODE 486) to the point where they perform recitals together (EPISODE 546). As Flash got older, he took interest in drama club (EPISODE 626) acquired a knack for playing strategy games (EPISODE 568, 586). Amber has shown interest in boys as well (EPISODE 644), and she eventually went steady with Platinum the Hedgecat (EPISODE 711). Sonic Jr. has started school with Sonic and Amy paying more attention to him so he can focus (EPISODE 529).
All characters, good and evil, sometimes attempt to seek the Chaos Emeralds, mystical jewels with infinite power and energy. Some can attain their super forms by collecting all seven of them, such as Sonic becoming Super Sonic and Chaos turning into Perfect Chaos (EPISODE 298, 535). Shadow can perform numerous abilities using the emeralds, such as Chaos Control, Chaos Spear and Chaos Blast. His Chaos Control not only stops time but can send anyone back in time as well (EPISODE 691)
The Sonic universe is still home to small pet-like creatures called Chao. Cream still keeps two Chao as pets: Cheese for herself and Chocola for Sam and Miles. Another Chao named Fluffy spends time with the group on occasion. Cheese and Fluffy are the parents of an offspring named Mallow (EPISODE 332). A robotic Chao named Omochao also pops by randomly to give advice to out heroes, much to the chagrin of Tikal.
Deep in the jungle, Big the Cat has a relatively easy life normally spent eating, sleeping, fishing and hanging out with Froggy. Big has proven to be smarter than he looks when he averted a flood crisis (EPISODE 316) and once nursed an injured Lightning back to health (EPISODE 603). Other times, Big's quest to prove he isn't stupid proves to be more harm than good (EPISODE 622). The gang has also used Big's appetite to their advantage (EPISODE 687). Big also stays close to his friend Froggy to the point where he celebrates Leap Day in his honor (EPISODE 378). Big is aware that he has had multiple Froggys just by looking at their eyes (EPISODE 544). On occasion, the gang does things for Big to show they really care like inviting him over for Thanksgiving dinner (EPISODE 703).
