Episode 726 - The Key to Success
Taped: 9/1/2024
Plot:
Vanilla walks in on Vector who's going through all of Chaotix's old memorabilia. He happens across a lot of the first stuff they ever did, noting that their voices were all higher recording it. He thinks he should call the band together and start re-performing. He brings a box to the rest of Chaotix who are finishing up a game of NFL Blitz. They're open to the idea until Vector says they should perform the music the way it was meant to be played. They give it a shot anyway, but Vector strains himself trying to hit the high notes. They try another song from the same album, and everyone gets through it easily instead of Vector. Vector insists that they can't take it lower because he doesn't want to adapt from the original tuning. Since he's a singer, he still doesn't know how the tuning of his bandmate's guitars work either. He ends the session early to cope with himself in the bathroom. Vanilla walks in and has a word with him. She tells him that it's time to finally come to grips that he's getting old. Vector never thought the day would come, but he starts opening up when Vanilla reminds him of the life he's been living. He should be lucky to have two daughters and two grandsons before age 47. Vector admits that she missed one thing, that he can still please her in bed. Chaotix sets up to perform while waiting for Vector. They name-drop some acts with high-pitched voices, thinking that Vector will still not change the tuning on any of their songs. To their surprise, Vector comes back and tells them that he can adjust to play accordingly. He arranges to have a concert of their old repertoire set up, agreeing not to strain his voice while practicing. They tune a song down one semitone, and Vector gets through it perfectly. They agree that he's ready to perform for his next concert. Chaotix then has perform Charisma's Song which chokes him up. The weeks pass, and they have a program ready with pressings of their music. Chaotix presents Vector with a gift: pictures of their band then with Ray and their band now with Eric. Vector thanks them for not forgetting where they came from. The concert begins, and Vector sings normally. Halfway through the first song, a girl flashes one boob at Vector revealing a tattoo of him which makes him laugh. The concert's a rousing success and Vector thanks his bandmates and Vanilla for making such a thing possible. A roadie comes by, giving them a t-shirt with a picture of the band on it from when they were first starting out signed by Wang-Lo. Everyone hugs Vector, although Mighty is forced into the embrace. Some time after the concert, Chaotix releases a re-recorded and reproduced new album of some of their old songs.
Fun Facts:
We learn that Vector's voice has changed a lot since forming Chaotix. We also learn that while Vector is always seen bald and clean shaven, he actually has gray hair.
