Episode 712 - Enough is Enough
Taped: 2/25/24
Plot:
Sonic and Tails travel home after another victory against Eggman. Sonic is unscathed, but Tails flies with cuts and bruises. Tails sarcastically asks what happened, to which Sonic answers that they won. Tails agrees, but complains about the hundreds of times Eggman blasted him while doing so. He then goes on about how he does everything for Sonic, but Sonic never seems to do anything for him. He also mentions that whenever Sonic gets recognized for heroic actions, he's just a footnote. Sonic asks him what he wants, and Tails responds by theoretically asking who it was that helped him so many times. Tails goes on by telling Sonic that he's also the one who watches over his kids and that Sega doesn't value him as much as Sonic. Sonic says if that's the way Tails feels, then maybe he should do his own heroic duties for a change. They go their separate ways, and Tails immediately starts building a ten-foot high fence on his property. Amy asks what it's about, and Sonic says it's just that he and Tails are having mutual disagreements. Flash notices that Tails didn't look too happy in the special report featuring him and Sonic. Sonic Jr. comes inside sad and dejected to inform everyone that Tails has told him he isn't allowed to play with Miles anymore. Tails also leaves the Tornado on Sonic's driveway in front of Amy's SUV, leaving Sonic to maneuver it into the backyard. Cream and Amy discuss what's been happening over coffee. They get each other's husbands sides of the story and think they're both equally at fault. However, Amy agrees that Sonic has been leaving Tails in the dark when it comes to recognition. Cream likewise says that Tails has been unappreciative of what Sonic does for him. They hope they can reconcile their differences, but agree that they may have to take drastic action if it gets too much for them. A few days later, Sonic receives a letter from Joe Biden asking him and Tails to come to the White House. Sonic is thrilled, but he feels remorse over the way he treated Tails. With some encouragement from Lightning, Sonic pays Tails a visit. Tails is reluctant to go, but he accepts the invitation when Sonic promises not to steal his thunder. Sonic, Tails, and their families go to Washington, DC where they meet Joe Biden, who has just been woken up by his aide, at the ceremony. Joe introduces them incorrectly, motioning Sonic to come forward. Sonic thanks Joe for the invite and makes the first part of his speech without Tails. He highlights that Tails has looked up to him since he was a baby and has saved his life several times. Sonic considers Tails to more than a friend, rather a hero. He has Tails join his side to speak. Tails thanks Sonic for being there for him through the very beginning. He also apologizes for the rocky relationship they've had over the past few days. Sonic and Tails also credit their wives who talk amongst each other in the audience about their threats working. Joe congratulates them before looking for Brandon wherever he may be. Sonic and Tails bond over burning the fence formerly on Tails' property. While roasting marshmallows, Sonic gives Tails some presents: a 100% raise from Sega, which is enough to cover full payment on Cream's car, and tickets to an Alaskan cruise. Tails tackles Sonic, and the two playfully wrestle. Amy and Cream watch the restored friendship with content.
Fun Facts:
We learn that Tails' salary from Sega was so low that it's part of the reason why Cream works 2 other jobs.
