Episode 711 - Hedgecat's Got Your Tongue
Taped: 2/18/24
Plot:
Platinum comes home with a big heart-shaped box of chocolates. Platinum tells Silver he's going to give the box to Amber at school tomorrow because it's Valentine's Day. Silver congratulates him for taking a huge step and wishes him luck. The following day at lunch, Thane offers some encouraging words before Amber walks by with Flash and Charisma. Flash gives Charisma a card which gives Platinum enough confidence to try it himself. He stumbles over his speech, making some phrases more vulgar than others. He then rushes out of the cafeteria, attracting the attention of Ms. Winfrey the cafeteria aide. Ms. Winfrey catches up to Platinum around the hall, but she tells him that he's not in trouble. She understands that he's trying to impress a girl because when she was his age, a boy had trouble confessing his love to her. They dated throughout school and eventually got married. She tells Platinum that if he ever needs advice, he can always come to her. She then spots him $5 because he forgot his lunch. Platinum talks to Thane about his experience which Thane takes as a chance for himself. Amber dumps a bowl of mashed potatoes on Thane for making a move on her. Platinum daydreams in study hall about a teacher getting a question wrong. Upon waking up, he discovered that he just drew a picture of Amber surrounded by hearts and flowers. He notices Amber sitting across the classroom and contemplates whether he should finish his geography homework or talk to Amber. He walks over to Amber, and they start talking. She thanks him for the chocolates he gave her. Then, he asks if he can visit her house so they can study geography together. She says yes, and they make arrangements before the bell rings. They go to Amber's after school to compare notes. As they study, Amy notices that they have feelings for one another, so she "accidentally" bumps their chairs closer together. They then talk about each other's families before confirming that they had a good study session. After Platinum leaves, Amy has a conversation with Amber. Amy can tell that Amber likes Platinum, but she needs to be more upfront about it or they'll never get serious. Silver notices that Platinum is dejected coming back from Amber's. Platinum admits that his approach must be off, to which Silver says it's now or never. Amber could be with another boy as early as the next day. The next morning at school, Flash bumps into Platinum, spreading the latter's notes across the floor. By the time they finish picking everything up, Amber has stopped herself in front of Platinum's locker. Platinum asks if she enjoyed his company the day before. She says she does, and Platinum tells her that they should stop being subtle. Amber agrees by kissing Platinum, and Platinum says he loves her. Platinum gives her some time to discuss things they want to do during the holiday break, to which Amber says she'll think about it. Thane thanks Platinum for taking a load off his shoulders. His father wanted him to start dating Amber because she's Sonic's daughter. Platinum says he has to stand up to his father because Amber's taken now. Amber comes home where she's congratulated by Lightning on having a steady boyfriend. He gives Amber some money, saying it's for a date during winter break. Sonic and Amy overhear the conversation and both think that Amber's in good hands with Platinum.
