Episode 704 - The One Job
Taped: 11/26/23
Plot:
Charmy and Espio play a violent video game in Scarlet's presence. Charmy is worried that Espio's setting a bad example, but Espio is positive that this won't be Scarlet's first memory. Vector gets a call from the mayor ordering him to bring Chaotix over. He does, and the mayor brings them a new case: a horse has had a bomb implanted and needs it out before it explodes. Vector agrees to the case, but the rest of Chaotix thinks the assignment is too gross. Vector reminds them of their motto, but his teammates aren't touching the assignment, even if it does pay. Vector goes to the farm where the farmer tells him he witnessed Eggman placing a bomb in one of his stud horses. Vector chases the horse who abuses him and taunts him when he gets the upper hand. The rest of Chaotix returns home, where they are certain that Vector may not survive the case. They tell Cream and Charisma who don't want Vector to die. After several failed chase attempts, Vector goes to the farmer for advice on subduing the horse. It's that point where the farmer tells Vector that the bomb isn't in the horse's digestive tract but rather his reproductive system. The farmer lets Vector in on some horse breeding secrets and sets up a trap for the horse. Vector attracts the horse with a scent and winds up being chased. After the farmer reminds him what to do, he watches the horse do his work from a safe distance. In doing so, the horse gets the bomb out. When Vector checks on the bomb, he throws it in panic, and it kills the horse when it explodes. Vector sheepishly apologizes, and the farmer chastises him, saying the horse was one of his best breeders. He refuses to pay Vector who sarcastically thanks him before leaving. Vector happens across Chaotix who are making plans for Vector's funeral with Rev. John F. Priest. They're shocked upon seeing him after thinking he was dead. Vector proves that he's alive be strangling Charmy and Espio who apologize between gasps. Cream, and Charisma hug him, but they hold off after he reveals where he's been. Vanilla scolds him for taking on such a dangerous and disgusting job. Vector apologizes for taking on such a stupid case, and the rest of Chaotix forgives them. They decide to relax their policy on following their motto a bit, promising not to take every job that pays. Vector leaves to take a shower with Espio and Charmy getting back to their video game. Cream decides to take Vanilla out and get takeout for Chaotix and themselves.
Fun Facts:
Sonia trusts Scarlet with Espio at Chaotix HQ for the first time. We learn that Eggman bets on horse races and keeps losing thus explaining why he sabotaged a stud farm. Note from Junkaholic95: Props to Koopa for finding a way to make this recap PG after the episode itself was very much not.
