Episode 639 - Lost and Found
Taped: 4/1/22
Plot:
Lightning helps Lucy pick out clothes at her favorite clothing store while Sonic impatiently waits for Flash to pick out an outfit to wear to his spring concert with the middle school band. Lightning and Lucy leave Sonic and Flash behind as they return to Lucy's house to babysit Matthias while Lydia is out for the afternoon. As they stuff their faces with pizza, Lucy come across the Lost Media Wiki and finds an article about the lost Sonic 1 Tokyo Toy Show prototype giving Lightning the idea to search for it. Before they can being their search, Matthias comes in demanding more chocolate milk but Lightning is unable to find any in the fridge. Matthias gets loud with his demands with Lightning proving unsuccessful in reasoning with him. Lucy steps in, finds chocolate syrup, and makes some which instantly stops her brother's whining. Moments later, Lydia comes home and relieves Lightning and Lucy of their duties. As they prepare to set out on their search, Matthias tries to tag along but they keep trying to tell him he's not allowed. After loudly whining to Lydia, who at this point has gotten in the tub, Matthias gets nowhere as she orders him to go to his room. While on their way to Lightning's house, Lightning calls ahead to make sure Sonic has made it home with Flash as they want to ask him to assist in their search. Sonic answers in the middle of making love to Amy who loudly berates him for picking up the phone. He agrees to help once he's done with what he's doing, unaware that he's not fooling Lightning who knows full well what is happening. They arrive with Lightning calling out to Sonic to announce their presence. Sonic answers back, once again getting an earful from Amy. Lightning and Lucy take to the computer to compile a list of possible leads which Lucy writes down in her notebook. After finally finishing up, Sonic makes his way to Lightning's room. They ask him if he has any idea who they could contact that may have a copy or know the whereabouts of the prototype. Several failed attempts later, Lightning gets the idea to ask the one person they haven't tried yet. This person is someone who has worked for Sega for as long as Sonic, that person being Eggman. The three make their way to Eggman's base who is none too pleased to see them. Sonic assures him that they're after his help and question him as to whether or not he knows anything about the prototype. Eggman explains that he didn't get hired by Sega until after the prototype was shown at the Tokyo Toy Show and therefore knows nothing about it. He does, however, suggest they contact Yuji Naka instead. When they return home, Sonic does just that. Naka informs Sonic that a search attempt was made back in the early 2000s during the making of Sonic Mega Collection but the prototype was never found and thus presumed lost. He further explains the nature of it, clarifying that it was nothing more than a tech demo to show off Sonic moving around on screen and a few badniks. Sonic, however, isn't ready to give up so easily and continues to call every former Sega employee whose contact information he can find. Much later, in the wee hours of early morning, Lightning and Lucy have fallen asleep and Amy has come in to urge Sonic to give up. Sonic insists on calling one last person but they end up being someone who didn't work for Sega until Sonic 3 was in production. Amy unplugs Sonic's computer and gives him an ultimatum. Come to bed and give up or keep going and expect her to be gone by morning. Sonic relents and calls it a night. The next morning, Lightning wakes up to find Sonic still fast asleep with his now dead phone still in his hand. Sonic wakes up and finally concedes defeat. Lightning assures him everything is fine and that he greatly appreciates the effort. Sonic admits that he was so relentless because he wants Lightning to learn as much as he can about his history. Lightning reminds Sonic that his family is a much more important part of his history and hopes to carry on the legacy with Lucy some day to which Sonic insists that it not be too soon.
