Episode 633 - It's My Life
Taped: 2/4/22
Plot:
Knuckles watches over the Master Emerald, bemoaning why he has to do so for another long day. He complains about having to miss Roger and Wynona growing up and why he didn't have a normal childhood. He decides to quit guarding the Emerald, wondering what life would be like if he never had children. He takes it a step further, wishing he had never been born. He hears Tikal coming and curses under his breath, to which Tikal says she doesn't want to do the obscenity with him. Tikal offers to show Knuckles what life would be like if he was never born. Knuckles accepts, and the first thing they see is the lack of his house on Angel Island. Tikal explains that it's because without Knuckles, Rouge never would have moved to Angel Island in the first place. They meet an aged Locke who's still keeping watch over the Master Emerald. Tikal points out that he isn't wearing his wedding ring meaning he's still divorced in this timeline which clues Knuckles in on where they're going next. They go to Lara-Le who never remarried after divorcing Locke. Knuckles realizes that this is because Locke, like the rest of the men in their family tree who treated their women like garbage, gave her trust issues. Since Lara-Le didn't have Knuckles to look after and motivate her to find a new husband, she never met Wyn and Mace doesn't exist either. Their next stop is Station Square where everything looks the same until Sonic comes into view. It turns out that he married a normal hedgehog woman named Monica and they have a normal son named Christopher. Since Sonic and Knuckles never met, it created a butterfly effect where Sonic and Amy never got married. They then come across a large music store which Sonic and Tails co-own because Sega went under in the late 90s. They notice that Tails has to abandon the store in the middle of the day. They follow him back to his house where they discover that Tails is about to become a father yet again. Tails never had the vasectomy, so he and Cream are going to keep having children. Knuckles requests to see Amy, and Tikal transports him to a church. Amy stopped chasing Sonic, so she became a nun and now runs a Sunday school. Knuckles asks what became of Rouge, so Tikal takes him to ARK. Knuckles witnesses Rouge getting kissed by and having her pregnant stomach caressed by Shadow. This enrages Knuckles to the point of strangling Tikal. Tikal reminds him that she's not the one responsible for the change in the timeline; she's just showing him what could have happened. Tikal then fast forwards a few years into the future after Locke's death. The shrine is now abandoned and overgrown with the Master Emerald faltering. Knuckles realizes how needed he is, so he requests that Tikal take him back home again. She does, and he rushes over to hug Rouge when he sees her again. He then goes to Lara-Le who's still married to Wyn and Sonic's neighborhood where every family on the block is normal. He even checks on Locke who is pleasantly surprised to see him barging in for once. He returns home, thankful that everything's the way it should be. The next morning, Knuckles wakes up to see Rouge isn't beside him. He searches the whole house, but fails to find her, thinking he somehow erased her from existence. Just as he's having a breakdown, she sneaks up behind him and says she was just out on a walk with Roger and Wynona. She also holds up breakfast with Knuckles saying he has a lot to tell her.
Fun Facts:
We learn that the Master Emerald not only needs a guardian to protect it, but also to maintain its energy so it continues to keep everything in balance.
