Episode 529 - Can't think of a title... SQUIRREL!
Taped: 8/9/19
Plot:
Amy and Cream are taking Sonic Jr. to Garnet Grove Elementary for his kindergarten enrollment with the new teacher, Miss Bernadette. They comment on how their children have grown so much and are especially impressed by how smart Miles has become and expect him to do exceedingly well in first grade. Upon their arrival, they're greeted by Miss Bernadette and leave Jr. there to go through his enrollment tests which consist of how well he does during roll call, how well he does participating in story time, and so forth. All goes well until snack time when he discovers the "healthy alternative" cookies that the school allows and goes into a rampage. He's quickly distracted by a picture of a cat on the wall and is promptly scolded by Miss Bernadette for his behavior. Things improve when Jr. demonstrates particularly good artistic abilities though his depiction of Sonic and Amy "running" looks a bit more like a lewd act. At the end of his testing, Amy returns and is quickly informed of Sonic Jr.'s lashing out. Miss Bernadette also remarks on Jr.'s lack of focus and suggests he be taken to Dr. Pryor, the school physiologist. A few days later, Amy and Jr. are in Dr. Pryor's office where she begins to ask him some questions about himself. After writing down his answers, she then begins to question Amy who provides more insight on Jr.'s behavior. Dr. Pryor gives Amy a list of things to try at home to test whether or not Jr. may have ADHD. In the following days Amy does just that and presents her findings at the follow-up appointment. As Dr. Pryor reads over Amy's observations, she concludes that he, in fact, does not have ADHD but is struggling with focusing on one thing at a time. She questions Amy further about Jr.'s home life which leads her to cave and admit she doesn't spend near enough time with him especially whenever Sonic is away from home. Amy then comes to the realization that the tests were not for Sonic Jr. but rather for herself as Dr. Pryor had already suspected what was really going on. Sonic Jr. then chimes in that Amy is a good mother which fills her with joy to hear from her young son. A few weeks later, Jr. has officially started school and his behavior has improved drastically thanks largely to Amy spending more time with him in the preceding weeks. Amy arrives to pick him up and is delighted to learn that everything went smoothly but is slightly disturbed by his drawing of Tails, particularly the appearance of the "tails" themselves and concludes that she needs to help him improve his skills in his newfound love of drawing.
Fun Facts:
It's learned that a lot of Sonic Jr.'s bizarre behavior is simply due to Sonic and Amy not giving him enough attention due to being their 4th child. Sonic Jr. has started kindergarten with Garnet Grove's new kindergarten teacher, Miss Bernadette, along with 2 classmates: Latoya and Misty.
Cast:
Junky: Sonic Jr., Amy, Latoya
Fieldsy: Cream, Dr. Pryor, Misty
Adam: Miss Bernadette
