Episode 525 - In Depends Aunt Day
Taped: 7/5/19
Plot:
Silver and a very pregnant Blaze go over last-minute food plans for their Independence Day barbecue. While Silver cooks burgers, Blaze confirms that her parents and her aunt on her mother's side are on their way. Blaze has forgotten what her aunt was like but since she's pushing 80 she figures she won't be that high-maintenance. Cream shows up, having brought a Fourth of July-themed cake before Sheila's aunt Diane pulls up in the driveway with Sheila and Harold in tow. Diane is slowly introduced to each family member, going into a rant when Platinum blurts out "Oh, Jesus!" as she hugs him. She also glares at Sheila for not telling her sooner that Blaze is pregnant. Diane then announces that it's time for the family to eat and tells Sheila what to serve her. Forgetting how old Platinum is, Diane gives him a Sesame Street present that maybe his sister will like once she is born. Silver pulls Blaze aside to talk about how eccentric Diane is with Blaze admitting it must be why they didn't see each other much growing up. She then talks to Cream about her Easter Bunny job, saying she hopes she's found another means of making ends meet since it's one day a year. Cream says she does the job to make people happy, saying she already has a job as a web designer. Silver tries to rush Diane out of the house by offering dessert but she insists on having Blaze give her a tour of the house. After Blaze and Diane leave, Silver tells everybody else they need to get rid of Diane because of her lack of respect towards Cream and Platinum. Sheila confesses that she brought Diane along because she spilled the beans on Blaze having a second child. She also tells Cream how proud she is that she's the Easter Bunny and that she's taken an interest to all of Blaze's friends. Silver says they can drive Diane away by slowly bringing things to the house that make her uncomfortable. He has Cream get in touch with Chaotix and Santa Claus and see if they can come to the party on short notice. Swen and Eric come to the house just as Blaze wraps up the tour. Diane is uncomfortable about Swen and Eric being married to each other but reluctantly accepts them because gay marriage is legal. Diane and Blaze also have to contend with Shadow and Knuckles showing up unannounced since it's the first time Diane has seen both. Santa Claus also comes to the party, prompting Diane to go back in the house to get away from the "heathens". She then notices one picture on the wall that drives her to conniptions: Silver and Blaze's wedding with Platinum as a young child. She then pulls Sheila inside, yelling at her for not raising Blaze better. Sheila lets loose, saying she didn't raise Blaze to be a bigot like Diane would have done with her. This reduces Diane to silence as Sheila tells her this isn't the 1950s anymore and that she should stop judging people for their appearances and their sexuality. Sheila ultimately gives Diane a choice: she can pack up and leave or apologize to everyone at the party. Sheila walks outside where everyone praises her for the job she did trying to control Diane. She admits it had to be done or else she would never change her ways. Just then, Diane comes out, ready to apologize for the way she's acted. She tells Swen and Eric they should be happy with one another, and she also lets Shadow know how exciting it must be to live in space. Santa Claus comes up to Diane and gives her a dreidel as a present as a thank you for believing in him. As some people start to leave, Diane thanks Blaze for giving her the opportunity to meet so many new people and allowing her the chance to make amends. Finally, she apologizes to Cream for the trouble she put her through, and Cream thanks her by giving her an Easter basket of her own. That night, Silver tells Blaze how much he likes her family since no one in the future likes him. He also confesses that he wants another child because he likes her being pregnant. She returns the favor by saying she's warmed up to being pregnant as well and she wouldn't mind having another child. The two then fall asleep with Blaze's unborn child giving Silver a tickle by kicking him.
