Episode 518 - Yolk's On You
Taped: 4/19/2019
Plot:
Having made all her Easter shipments, Cream takes the time to reminisce with Amy about all the times she had to save the holiday. Amy wonders if Sonic has ruined their dinner yet, prompting Sonic to tell Amy that he hasn't just yet. He hard-boiled the family's eggs for the kids to dye and then leaves to start cooking the ham. A U.S. Customs agent shows up at the front door, informing Cream that her candy shipments have been flagged as suspicious packaging. Due to the large quantity, it must pass rigorous inspections and Cream may be arrested if even one turns out unsafe. Amy suggests that Cream fight this in court in order to speed up the process but to do that they'd need to see if there are any retired Easter Bunnies still living aside from Vanilla. They find one named Cecil Bunnington who retired in 1982, and he has a current address in Grand Metropolis. Coincidentally, he happens to be Jenny's next door neighbor in her condo building. Jenny tells the group that Cecil became Easter Bunny in 1972 after getting drafted to fight in Vietnam in the late '60s. She leads them over to his unit and he tells them, while smoking weed, about his experience before letting Morris take over. Cecil says that, based on his prior experience with the government, they would need to dig up dirt on them in order to speed up the customs process. He also admits that Morris switching to FedEx came as a result of him getting arrested, requiring him to make shipments while on long-term house arrest. The gang returns home where Cream tracks the shipping number on the FedEx website. It turns out the shipments are being held due to potential explosives inside at least one of the packages. Cream checks the receipts on the shipments and an auto-correct error changed the contents of one from Atomic Fireballs to Atomic Firearms. The FBI then knocks on the door, ordering Cream to step forward. The agent then shows Cream a package of Atomic Fireballs, and admits that the agency and the bomb squad actually got a kick out of the typo. The agent lets her go but not before advising her to check her list twice just like Santa Claus. Cream promises she will be more careful in order to prevent a scare like that from happening again. On Easter morning, Cream tells Vanilla how disheartened she is that the whole thing turned out to be a joke. Just then, the president's motorcade pulls up and Donald Trump offers an apology dinner for what happened. Cream initially declines, thinking Trump is just offering a fast food lunch. After some cajoling from Amy and Sonic, Cream reconsiders and Trump takes her to the White House. At a press conference, Trump awards Cream the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her services as the Easter Bunny. When they arrive home, they think Trump at least has a little humanity although they won't vote for him in 2020. Sonic asks how Station Square elections even work if they can vote for Trump in theory, only to get the evil eye from Amy.
Fun Facts:
The names and tenures of several past Easter Bunnies are revealed in this episode. It's also revealed that not only was Vanilla a former Easter Bunny but so was Butter during World War II. It's also mentioned that an age requirement of 18 was added to the role in 1973 following Vanilla's abysmal 1 year tenure at the age of 5. It's also finally explained that Morris Hare was on house arrest for attempting to murder Bob Barker in 1986.
