Episode 517 - Omega Zeta
Taped: 4/12/2019
Plot:
Knuckles is helping Mace determine why his car won't run when Shadow appears in search of Rouge. He explains to her that he's been receiving strange transmissions reading "51u3d" and "@u!6@A" all morning. Rouge leaves Knuckles and Mace to their tinkering and follows Shadow back to the ARK. Calling back to her days with GUN, she determines the signals are coming from none other than Omega who she determines is in Seattle, Washington. Confused by this, Shadow has Rouge set the ARK's transporter to Omega's coordinates. Meanwhile, Knuckles has determines that the timing gear in Mace's decrepit engine has a broken tooth among a few other small problems and presents him with a used car book. Back in Seattle, Shadow and Rouge find Omega near Microsoft headquarters speaking in repetitive gibberish. Shadow pulls out a copy of Eggman's original schematic for Omega with a set of instructions of how to reboot him in Safe Mode. The procedure includes a set of rather lewd steps including revealing Omega's reset switch in his crotch and stroking it ten times as well as repeatedly pressing his "safety" switch located in his nether region. Omega then goes through a series of tests of his appendages before striking a T-pose and his eyes lighting up green indicating he's now in Safe Mode. However, their success is only partial as the next step calls for them to connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor which they don't have. Shadow is initially at a loss for what to do when Rouge spots a repair shop called "CompuBarn" nearby. Back with the echidna brothers, Mace has narrowed down a few different cars including a 2015 Toyota Camry, a 2013 Honda Civic, and a 2016 Scion iA. Knuckles then asks what Mace would want if he were to buy a new car to which he replies with: a new Lexus, a new Chevy Blazer, or a new Toyota Rav4. Back at the repair shop, Shadow threatens to kill the CompuBarn employee if he doesn't restore Omega to his former self. The employee looks over Omega and determines that his hardware is horrifically out of date and that someone tried to install Windows 10 on him leading to a failed driver update thus causing him to malfunction. He further explains that he can restore Omega, but the procedure will be very expensive due to him needing to replace nearly all of his internal components as well as transfer all of his existing data to a new hard drive. Shadow, undeterred by this information, consults with Rouge who agrees to let the restoration continue. Meanwhile, Mace is still undecided as to what car to buy so Knuckles agrees to help him with the cost if need be stating that he'd never let his one and only brother stranded without a ride. At CompuBarn, Omega's restoration is complete as he begins to recognize Shadow and Rouge as his friends. He then promptly identifies the employee as an enemy and blasts him with his arm cannon. Glad to have their friend back, Shadow and Rouge take him back to Angel Island where Omega spots Mace's Buick and is about to destroy it when Knuckles stops him. Rouge is initially in disbelief that Omega actually listened to Knuckles, stating that he usually only trusts either herself or Shadow. Knuckles questions why Omega wouldn't trust him since he's married to Rouge. Omega then identifies Knuckles as Rouge's spouse confirming his suspicion much to her surprise. Shadow then remembers the strange transmissions sent by Omega and asks him what they meant. He explains they were simply the words "penis" and "vagina" inverted as those were words he believed would get Shadow's attention. Omega then leaves to find more of Eggman's robots just as Mace returns with his new car which turns out to be the 2015 Toyota Camry he saw in the used car book. Proud of his brother's choice, Knuckles comments how well Mace has done for himself having finished college, found a nice office job, having a girlfriend in Marine, and considering moving in with her. He then questions whether or not Omega does anything other than aimlessly search for Eggman's robots to battle to which Rouge replies that he really doesn't.
Fun Facts:
Omega is seen for the first time in a long time and now runs on modern hardware and has a modern operating system. Mace now has a newer car and has demoted his Buick to "project car" status.
