Episode 508 - Dollar Make Me Holler
Taped: 2/8/19
Plot:
Sonic checks Amy's skin for lumps, having watched Dr. Pimple Popper videos several times over. Amy tells Sonic that the only lumps she's ever had started growing on her chest when she was 13, before telling him she's found lumps on him: his own balls. Amy then tells Sonic her idea for the kids: she plans on giving each of them a debit card with $100 on them as a means of teaching them how to manage finances. Sonic takes it as a sign of the times since simply giving each of them $100 bills means they may never track them on how they spend it. Amy then goes over the rules of the card with Lightning, Flash, and Amber since Sonic Jr. is too young to have one. Amber expresses concerns about overdrawing after hearing Lightning and Flash talk about how they plan on using theirs. Amy takes her to the mall to test her further, saying she trusts her more than she trusts her brothers. Meanwhile at Best Buy, Lightning notices Lucy is interested in an Android Tablet and contemplates one for himself although he already has an iPad. Lucy tells him that she's buying it with her gift card that she received for Christmas. Lightning then spots a new microphone he likes but it's out of his price range due to the sales tax. He decides to keep shopping for other accessories he may need. Meanwhile, Flash looks at all the violin sheet music in the music store while thinking of what kind his music professor would want him to learn. He gravitates toward some romantic-era music by picking some sight-reading books from Tchaikovsky. Amber strikes a friendship with a clothing store employee who lets her try on whatever clothes she likes. When she settles on a whole new style, the overenthusiastic employee gets carried away and starts having her try more and more expensive accessories. Overwhelmed by the pressure to buy more things, Amber runs to her mother. Amy steps in and helps her with her choices. Liking the outfit Amber has selected, she helps her find a more suitable, less expensive jacket to go with it. Even then, it turns out the set is just a bit more than what she can afford. At the realization Amber isn't a little girl anymore and looks good in more mature clothes, Amy chips in the difference, saying she deserves to be spoiled just a bit. Amber promises not to spend any more since it's as much as she can afford anyway. That evening, the family goes over what they bought: rather than buying accessories, Lightning took Lucy to see The Lego Movie 2; Flash bought classical and jazz sheet music; and Amber bought a new outfit. Just then, Silver knocks on the door with some exciting news. Blaze has an envelope hiding a gender reveal for their baby, so they agree to have Platinum open it. Pink confetti shoots out of the envelope, which overjoys Silver and Platinum on the news that it's a girl. They plan on converting his craft room into the baby's new room. Silver gushes over shopping for all sorts of girl things, to which Blaze reminds him that she can help with whatever he wants to buy. Though initially disgusted by the notion of Silver being a father again and questioning Blaze if she may have gotten pregnant by other means, Amy tells them how blessed they are that they're having a daughter. After they leave, she admits she wouldn't have had any of their children any other way since they're all blessings.
