Episode 503 - Rock Around the Block
Taped: 12/9/18
Plot:
Chaotix jams out to Beatles covers recorded by Cream, to which Espio complains about getting blisters on his fingers. They then decide to work on some Black Sabbath in honor of it being Ozzy Osbourne's birthday. Vanilla interrupts the session to ask Chaotix why they haven't been assigned to a case in quite some time. She recommends going on tour because the cold-blooded members are running up the home's heating bill. While Cream edits their video, she clicks on an internet article advertising Panda-Monium: a music group consisting of pandas playing thrash metal music. Chaotix agrees to attend their show at the Station Square auditorium so they can heckle them off the stage. Panda-Monium introduces themselves and trades insults with Chaotix as they play two songs, the second filled with insults aimed at Vector. Espio turns invisible and attempts an ambush but the pandas turn out to be highly-trained ninjas who grab Espio and whack him with their instruments. Panda-Monium gets back at Chaotix by insulting them even further in their songs, and even turning the whole audience against them with a song about Eric. Defeated, Chaotix retreats outside of the auditorium where Eric throws his guitar in the dumpster and runs off into the night. The rest of Chaotix becomes flabbergasted that Eric would do such a thing since the guitar was his life. Sonia finds Chaotix and also becomes shocked at Eric leaving the group. Sonia has the group call Swen on her cell and they relay the night's events to him. Swen recounts the time a cop saved him from a suicide by talking him out of jumping off the Route 101 bridge, and everyone thinks he may be headed there. They rush over to discover that he's eating hot dogs on the bridge since the food in the area cheers him up. Swen gives Eric a pep talk, telling them to forget what the pandas said about him and he means more than he can ever imagine. They then pay Mayor O'Brien a visit, and he reveals why he has been calling Panda-Monium instead of Chaotix to solve cases. Crime has been down in recent weeks, and the mayor has been using Panda-Monium for small cases since they're only amateurs and charge less. He also admits that their music sucks and their audience will grow out of it in due time. He then turns on the television, only for Panda-Monium to grace the set by challenging Chaotix to a battle of the bands. Vector becomes so disgusted with the insults that he breaks the mayor's TV with a baseball bat. The next day at the show, Panda-Monium think Chaotix is a no-show and start their set but after their first song, Eric cuts power to their sound board and start playing from the top of their speaker stack. Chaotix thrashes at the concert with Vector improvising anti-panda lyrics. Eric causes his amp to catch fire with his guitar playing and Espio complains about getting blisters on his blisters by playing so hard on his. Panda-Monium concedes without even playing the rest of their set and they apologize for the way they acted the first time they performed. They declare Chaotix winners and declare them honorary members of the group. Chaotix's anti-panda song goes viral and it allows them to pay off their heating bill, take on new cases, and get new gigs. They also hear back from the pandas who have done away with their Chaotix bashing. Chaotix wonders what they're up to now... and it turns out they're now writing anti-hedgehog songs.
