Episode 487 - How to Sonic and Other Useful Information
Taped: 7/8/2018
Plot:
Sonic sets up an obstacle course in the backyard, ready to teach Sonic Jr. some of his basic moves. He first demonstrates how to break a ring box with Jr. thinking there could be pizza inside his. Jr. is unable to break it on his own until doing so accidentally by falling on it. Then, Sonic shows him how to jump on numbered panels which he laid across the yard. Jr. becomes too scared to jump off panel two in a tree so Locke has to cut it down. Sonic's next attempt is running a loop but it catches fire when he runs on it. Enamored, Jr. tries it himself but winds up launching himself in the sky to the Shooting Stars meme. After he falls back, Sonic decides to teach him how to spin-dash. Jr. loses his clothes while rolling, and the rest of the family members have to fetch them for him. Even a basic jog is too much for Jr., with him tripping and rolling into the "12" pinball sketch from Sesame Street, complete with the Pointer Sisters singing. Amy has Sonic call it a day, suggesting that they take Jr. to a specialist to see if anything has stunted his growth. They schedule an appointment, where the doctor gets to know Sonic Jr. with Sonic and Amy observing. To everyone's surprise, Jr. aces the academic portion of his analysis, even a calculus question at the end. He doesn't do as well for the physical part, with the doctor coming to the conclusion that he's better at brains as opposed to brawn. Then, he sees Jr. playing with a toy hammer the most out of everything in the room. They then realize his personality reflects more of Amy than Sonic, which explains why he wasn't as adept at doing Sonic's techniques. Sonic and Amy then pledge to be there for Jr. and love him no matter how he turns out. They then bring Jr. home where he successfully kicks open an item box. Amy then points out that Jr. does a lot of kicking, and remembers growing up that Whitey used to do just that to his television whenever it wouldn't work.
