Episode 484 - Locke the Doors
Taped: 6/10/2018
Plot:
Knuckles shows Rouge places to eat with her choosing a fancy Italian restaurant over a cheap Mexican joint. They remember too late that they have no one to babysit their kids, and they call Wyn and Lara as they're getting ready to see Yogi Bear on Ice on the Musical in 3D. Since they don't want to bother Sonic who has enough problems with his own children, Knuckles calls up Danny DeVito because he supposedly owned him a favor after covering up a traffic incident. Danny refuses because he not only hates kids, citing his role in Matilda as enough proof, he doesn't even know where Knuckles lives. They continue mulling over their options, Locke barges in having overheard their predicament. Knuckles begrudgingly agrees but not before going over ground rules first. Roger and Wynona, however, warm up to spending the evening with him, and the parents leave hoping they're in good hands. Locke plays for them on his 1959 Les Paul which he considers an upgrade to a banjo before blowing out his fingers due to his old age. He then decides to make the kids dinner but is turned off by the healthy choices in the kitchen. He instead makes greasy hamburgers and homemade french fries which the kids instantly fall for. Knuckles and Rouge marvel at all the expensive items on the menu, thinking they will be better than anything Locke can cook. They then order a bottle of house white wine and toast each other with a glass. Locke changes the channel in the middle of the twins' Paw Patrol show and turns on Gunsmoke instead. They are enamored by the gun fighting despite the show being in black and white. After giving them their bath, Locke tucks them into bed and tells them a bedtime story about Knuckles' childhood. Knuckles and Rouge finish their meal and order tiramisu, with Knuckles not knowing what it is. Rouge describes the dessert for Knuckles when it arrives, and they both dig in. After putting Roger and Wynona to sleep, Locke wonders why Knuckles couldn't have been more like them growing up. He then finds a bottle of wine in the family's wine cellar and helps himself to it in front of the television. Knuckles and Rouge pay their bill and end their romantic night with a kiss before leaving for home. They walk in to discover the kitchen is a mess but Roger and Wynona are sound asleep. They decide to leave Locke asleep in front of the television, assuming he had quite a time watching over the twins. They finish off the rest of the burger the kids couldn't eat and conclude that he still has impressive cooking skills in spite of his age. The next morning, Knuckles and Rouge thank Locke for a great job babysitting the twins before he leaves to do errands. Roger and Wynona slip that they put stickers on him while he's asleep; when Locke finds out, he sticks it to his dash as a memento.
