Episode 480 - TNAoSTH Classics 7
Taped: 4/29/2018
Plot:
Sonic and Knuckles introduce another round of classic shorts as they make fun of Sonic's appearance on Sonic CD and later each other's wives.
The Newlywed Game (1969): Sonic and Amy compete against three other couples: Donald & Miranda Whitmire, Michael & Veronica Stephenson, and the token black couple Tyrone & Claudia Marshall. Bob Eubanks pulls the husbands aside to ask questions first, and all four match their answers to a question asking about the last thing their wives saw on fire. Some time later, Eubanks asks for the bonus question to the wives for the weirdest place their husband suggested making whoopie. Sonic fails to match Amy's answer of their honeymoon location in the Yukon, and they go home with parting gifts.
The Muppet Show (1979): The cast of Sonic make a guest appearance, starting with Sonic who helps Marvin Suggs make music on his Muppaphone. Sonic whacks the Muppaphones to the tune of In the Hall of the Mountain King, with Marvin saying that he's a natural. Next up on Muppet Labs, Tails aids Dr. Bunsen Honeydew on an electrifying experiment that removes Beaker's hair. Backstage, Miss Piggy catches Kermit ogling Rouge's breasts and karate chops him.
Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986): Charmy as Pee-Wee invites Cream as Miss Yvonne over to the playhouse where they make snacks. That day's featured snack is s'mores which Charmy and Cream make with step-by-step instructions, even advising the children at home to ask for their parent's permission to use the microwave. Pee-Wee tricks Miss Yvonne into saying the secret word "big" when describing the s'mores.
Captain Planet (1992): Dr. Eggman empties the toxic waste from Chemical Plant Zone into the ocean, much to the horror of the Planeteers (Knuckles, Sonic, Cream, Sonia and Lightning). Together they summon Captain Planet (Shadow) who goes over all the effects of Eggman's ocean pollution. Captain Planet defeats Eggman by shoving the pipe dumping the toxic waste over him, and saves the ocean by dumping the waste already there over China.
The Osbournes (2003): Sharon (Vanilla) walks in on Ozzy (Vector) trying to fix their television. Sharon points out the the television isn't even plugged in, and that the set isn't even turned on. On top of that, the remote doesn't even have the right batteries. After Ozzy looks for the right batteries, he gets the television working. Ozzy becomes mesmerized by all the channels, with Sharon just rolling her eyes.
Knuckles and Sonic are interrupted by Kermit who wraps up the show with the Muppets playing The Muppet Show closing theme. The show ends with Statler and Waldorf poking fun at how the show still has the word "new" in the title despite existing for 10 years followed by Zoot hitting a sour note on his saxophone.
Fun Facts:
None of the shorts featured in this episode are canon to the series. This episode was done as a follow-up to the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth TNAoSTH Classics. The name "Whitmire" in The Newlywed Game sketch was a reference to Kermit the Frog's former performer, Steve Whitmire.
