Episode 471 - Hard Drivin'
Taped: 2/25/18
Plot:
Silver finishes sculpting a Blaze statue made of cheese just as Platinum comes home from school. Platinum tells him that he got a part in a school play on nutrition, and that it requires him to stay late on Thursdays. They rush off to tell Blaze who is in the middle of taking a shower. She stops to congratulate Platinum on getting the part of an onion, but Silver isn't sure how to take him home from school after rehearsals end each week. He runs outside where he randomly spots Espio whom he tells about his dilemma. Espio suggests buying a car, but Silver runs off before offering to take him to Uncle Pappy's. Silver takes Platinum to a used car dealer while Blaze cooks their dinner. A salesperson goes over the possible cars he can buy from including a 2018 Ford Fusion, a 2016 Chevy Sonic, a pre-owned Jaguar F-type, and a 2017 Toyota Camry. Silver is less than impressed with is options but spots a 1996 Toyota Camry and begins to fall in love with it. After looking more closely at the Sonic and the newer Camry, he takes Camry from 1996 for a spin because he and Platinum weren't even around that year. He's particularly hooked on what he thinks is the antique security system, only to have the dealer point out that it's actually a cassette deck. After the test drive, he goes underneath the car and checks under the hood to see how everything works and winds up buying it. He takes it home to surprise Blaze who is shocked that he got a car from 1996 that still works, even for $2,400. He decides to take Blaze out, but wants a picture of himself driving the car first. While he goes inside to fetch his camera, a truck drops a pipe on the car, totaling it. Silver summons a State Farm agent who tells him he can replace the car with another one at the dealer, which he does. This time, he settles on a used 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer which he uses to take Blaze and Platinum out. They pull in at a restaurant, but a light pole falls on the car just after they get out. Blaze summons a State Farm agent to not only inform them of the damage, but also because she wants a bowl of milk. Their third car is a 2013 Kia Optima, which they use to pick Platinum up from his first rehearsal. While they go in the school to have Platinum show them his onion costume, a bus backs into the car. Silver resolves to try the dealer one last time while Blaze and Platinum hitch an Uber back home. That evening, Silver announces that he's bought a new car because he was getting sick of the used ones breaking. He settles on a tan Chevy Suburban which has everything his family needs because he wants them to have the best. He also gets a real anti-theft system by buying the On-Star package. He decides to show it to Sonic's neighborhood, who are just as impressed with the purchase as he is. Amy jabs that it's a car that just screams "I have a tiny dick".
