Episode 467 - Rock or Bust
Plot:
Knuckles appears on a darkened set to explain to the audience that he is not from Uganda, does not care if people know "da wae" or not, nor does he think everyone has Ebola. As he goes to leave the stage, he can't find the door and asks if anyone knows the way. The main story then begins with Knuckles asking Tails to program his new smart TV as he's successfully found a way to mess up every single setting including setting the language to Japanese. As Tails calls tech support, Knuckles checks up on Rouge who is watching a show about gems in another room. She tells him about The Ruby of Omniscience, a mysterious gem in the desert known to have similar powers to the Master Emerald though not as powerful itself. Knuckles jokingly questions why Eggman hasn't tried to steal it yet when, sure enough, Eggman is in his base planning to do just that by rebuilding the Egg Golem. Knuckles rejoins Tails who has completed his call with tech support and simply resets the TV to factory settings by sticking a paperclip into the reset hole in the back of the TV. Rouge comes out to see how things are going just as the news interrupts with a breaking story. The Egg Golem has been sighted approaching the desert and has taken out GUN troops. The gang immediately realize what's happening and decide to take action. Knuckles stays behind to watch the Master Emerald while Rouge and Tails recruit Shadow to help track down Eggman. Shadow joins them at the edge of the desert where they formulate a plan to catch up to Eggman. Shadow concludes that it's far too hot for Tails and Rouge to fly the whole way and the sand is too loose to run. Tails, being adept at sand boarding, suggests that as their means so Shadow and Rouge search nearby for something to use as sand boards. Shadow finds an old abandoned military jeep missing its front wheels but thinks it may be useful. Rouge finds an old man selling things along the road who happens to have a pair of surfboards that they may be able to modify and buys them. They bring their finds to Tails who fabricates them into a makeshift dune buggy with surfboard skids for steering. Shadow attempts to start the jeep but the battery is dead and it has no gas. He seeks out the man Rouge met earlier and finds him asleep. Shadow takes this opportunity to steal the battery from his car. He flips the car over to steal the gas tank but accidentally crushes the old man to death in the process. He rushes back to the others with his finds and, after a rough start, the jeep is finally running and they take off after Eggman. They arrive on the scene just a moment too late as Eggman has already taken the ruby and placed it inside the Egg Golem. It attacks Rouge and Tails with energy beams as they try to take it out from the air but it misses them. Shadow hides the jeep so it doesn't get destroyed and remembers the original Egg Golem's weakness: the restraining mechanism on its head. As Shadow tries to get to the top, Eggman spots him and reveals he's thought ahead and hidden it inside its body this time around. Shadow calls for Rouge and Tails to retreat as they formulate a new plan. Just then, the Egg Golem absorbs the ruby's power and the desert begins to lift off the ground. Eggman declares that all is going according to plan and that he intends to crash the desert into Angel Island so that the debris will cover the entire planet in dirt and sand on top of which he will finally build the Eggman Empire. Shadow knows that to stop the Egg Golem they must destroy the restraining mechanism but first must save Angel Island from total destruction. Rouge recalls her first encounter with Knuckles when he smashed the Master Emerald to prevent Eggman from stealing it. Knowing such a thing will cause Angel Island to fall, she frantically calls Knuckles to explain the dire situation and what he must do to save their home. Knuckles punches the Master Emerald sending its pieces in every direction which immediately causes the island to start falling, just barely dodging a collision with the oncoming desert. An outraged Eggman kicks the Egg Golem for missing causing it's storage compartment to open revealing the ruby and the restraining mechanism. Shadow sees his chance and jumps inside. He tosses the ruby to Rouge who kicks it into pieces causing the desert to start falling back into place, but Knuckles must restore the Master Emerald to prevent a potential second collision. As he frantically scrambles for the pieces, Shadow is able to remove the restraining mechanism and cause the Egg Golem to self destruct sending Eggman skyward. Knuckles has found pieces to both gems but, not realizing what will happen by bringing them so close together, accidentally allows them to fuse into one giant gem that causes both the island and desert to stop half way. Just then, the entire universe begins to implode sucking everything into a complete void. Shadow berates Knuckles for his blunder but at that moment they notice the fused gem has a tiny hole in the top. Remembering the TV incident from earlier, Knuckles asks if Tails still has the paperclip from before, which he does. Tails pokes it into the hole which causes the two gems to separate into their normal forms followed by a big bang that resets the universe back to normal. Shocked and amazed that such an idea actually worked, they decide to celebrate by trying out Knuckles' new smart TV once again. Knuckles manages to accidentally set the TV to Ugandan and tosses the remote in disgust.
