Episode 463 - Rocky Road ala Mode
Taped: 12/10/17
Plot:
Chaotix shops for their Christmas party, loading their cart with all sorts of food and beer, along with six gallons of eggnog. Charmy asks why Espio hasn't put his normal purchase of 18 gallons of fudge ripple ice cream in the cart, to which he defensively admits he's trying to cut back. Mighty does some calculations and proves that Espio actually hasn't due to his recent consumption of ice cream. Espio gets uppity when Chaotix tells Eric more about his ice cream addiction but calms down then they have him explain how it began. Espio tells them about the time he was still with Liz, about eleven years before. Liz has been having a hard time at her job at Circuit City and taking her anger out on Espio. She complains about how she works hard every day while Espio drinks and parties with Chaotix while they struggle to get gigs. Liz leaves for her job in a huff and shortly after, Charmy comes over to talk to him. Espio admits that he married her four months after meeting her at one of their concerts, and that the relationship has been suffering ever since. Charmy scolds him for marrying for sex instead of love before offering him something he treasures most, a tub of fudge ripple ice cream. As Espio tears in, Charmy reminds him that Chaotix will always be there for him and that Espio's house is right across the street from Sonic's. Seven months later, Espio has been crashing regularly at Sonic's house due to Liz kicking him out, much to the annoyance of Sonic and Amy. They tell them that he's been eating so much ice cream that they fear Wilford Brimley may call to discuss the dangers of diabetes, which he actually does. They also warn him that Liz looks like she may give birth any day now, despite Espio claiming she never lets him have sex with her. Meanwhile at Circuit City, Liz gives birth to Karma in the employee bathroom while on break and has another employee cover for her while she goes to the hospital. Eric is still confused as to how he actually kicked the habit, to which Iggy shows up, allowing him to explain. He says Espio has been inadvertently calling him up at Twinkle Park under the assumption that it was a self-help number. In doing so, Iggy has been slowly but surely helping him reduce his ice cream consumption. Iggy apologizes for the way Liz treated him due to their affair, but Espio is indifferent since he never really liked Liz anyway. Iggy also revealed that he's moved on from the affair, having a new wife and three kids of his own, and congratulations Espio for finding a new woman in Sonia. They wish each other well before Chaotix leaves the store to go home and start their party. Chaotix sings an Irish Drinking Song as Vanilla compliments them for going easy on the booze this time.
