Episode 455 - The Birds and the Cats
Taped: 10/15/17
Plot:
Jenny, Amy and Sonic invite Silver and Blaze over to see Jessie. Silver is so taken by the new arrival that he considers giving Platinum a brother or sister to which Amy recommends that he shouldn't. Silver insists that Platinum won't turn out to be like him since he got a perfect score on his first spelling test. The kids then come home to school where they show off their art class projects which got A's, except for Flash who got a B+. Lightning shows Sonic a picture of Lucy in Colorado and announces he's going to compete against her in a school version of Jeopardy! Silver becomes so attached to Jessie that Jenny insists that he give her over unless he can breastfeed her. Silver copes by telling Platinum memories of when he was a baby which confuses Platinum because he doesn't remember any occasion he talks about. Jenny comes back from breastfeeding Jessie and Platinum instinctively asks if the baby came from her. Amy tells Silver and Blaze that it's time to give Platinum the talk. Silver tells him the story of how he was conceived in Disney World while separated from the rest of the gang. When they found out Blaze was pregnant, they went into hiding because of her parents' then-devout Jewish faith. Blaze mistakenly thought they'd be upset, forgetting she was actually adopted into the Jewish faith. Silver then tells Platinum that the mother's stomach gets bigger until the baby's ready to be born, to which Jenny replies that she hated being pregnant at the very end. Blaze takes the opportunity to tell him what happened as she was pregnant with Platinum, including the morning sickness, weight gain, mood swings, and cravings. She also explains how they had to hide the pregnancy from Blaze's parents when they visited her house on Thanksgiving. Since Blaze was starting to show at that time, Blaze has to wear a sweatshirt in 60 degree weather. Silver thinks they may be in the clear since Sheila had been putting on weight around that time. Sheila and Harold playfully bombard Silver and Blaze with questions about their upcoming marriage and possible plans for grandchildren. After Blaze eats enough for three at dinner, Sheila invites her to go Black Friday shopping. Blaze declines, citing an accident involving a pregnant woman at Mobi-Mart the previous year, and Sheila understands, saying she can make decisions by herself now. The next month at Hanukkah, Blaze refuses to take off her sweater, telling Sheila she's having trouble losing the weight she put on at Thanksgiving. Sheila opens up, telling her she has been struggling with her weight for years. After Blaze's jeans rip slightly, Sheila invites her to change into some clothes she left behind after moving out. She rips her jeans worse while changing and puts on an old pair of track pants she used to own while Sheila looks over the tattered pair. Sheila still reassures her that she still looks the same as she did in high school, despite some belly fat. On the last day of Passover, Blaze pretends to have the stomach flu while Sheila and Harold make a surprise visit. She hides out in the bathroom and is able to shoo them away before they get suspicious. On April 19th, Silver and Blaze agree that the time has come to talk to their friends about their pregnancy since they are unable to hide it anymore. They then comment on Amy going through the same ordeal with Sonic, only now she has three kids instead of one. They have a close call at the doctor's office when they see Harold getting his eyes checked at the eye doctor's next door. While hiding behind a low wall, Blaze makes up an excuse that she got a kidney stone but Sheila notices her larger breasts and warns her against wearing padding. After Blaze gives birth to Platinum, they feel now is the time to tell her parents and they invite them over the following morning. Instead of being mortified and judgemental, Sheila and Harold are overjoyed at seeing their new grandson for the first time. They tell Blaze that it's 2010 with the Jewish faith not being what it was, and that she's old enough to be making decisions on her own. Back in the present, Blaze and Silver admit how stupid they were for keeping the pregnancy a secret for so long but Platinum loves them just the same. Amy talks Jenny into doing a routine she used to do when they were girls despite Jenny's voice getting raspier from drinking. Jenny sings "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston based on her wanting to be a pop singer when the song came out. Silver and Blaze announce that they've learned their lesson to be supportive of Platinum whatever he does. Amy then pitches tacos for dinner and when everyone agrees, she says for once she isn't ashamed of her life.
