Episode 449 - Pop and Locke
Taped: 8/27/17
Plot:
Wyn's basement floods so he calls on Knuckles who comes over with his air necklace to shut off the valve. He offers to help Wyn find a new water heater when Rouge storms down the stairs on the phone. Knuckles takes the receiver only to discover Locke cursing at him because he fell in is shower. He instructs Wyn to look for a new water heater while he goes over to help Locke at his trailer. Knuckles is reluctant to help Locke out of the tub because the thought of doing so makes him sick. Locke keeps screaming at Knuckles and insulting him until he snaps and calls him out on his abusiveness and overall nasty attitude. Knuckles also rubs in on how much more successful he is at life than him. Locke breaks down and admits that Knuckles is right and also asks if he hates him as much as he did his own father, Sabre. Locke recounts an anecdote where Sabre barged in drunk from guarding the Master Emerald, demanding that the lawn be mowed. A neighbor talks to Locke before doing the job, saying a kid his age needs to be doing things his age instead of hard labor. Locke wonders why he can't have a power lawn mower when another neighbor already has one. Sabre serves him cold mashed potatoes and meat loaf since the microwave hasn't been invented yet. Locke is then bathed in hot water and put to bed at 7:30 while the sun is still out. The next day, Sabre gives Locke a rusty a bike for his tenth birthday but only to use for his new job as a paperboy. The bike falls apart so Locke has to deliver to papers on foot which takes all day. A few years later, Locke has become more rebellious, expressing his desire to be a midwife and getting his girlfriend Lola's name tattooed on his buttcheek. Sabre grabs him and threatens to carve the tattoo off but slips and falls on a knife. Locke contemplates calling for an ambulance but decides to let him bleed out in revenge for providing him with a rotten childhood. Lola then walks in having heard the commotion and breaks up with Locke for letting his father die. When Locke is finished, Knuckles recounts that his childhood wasn't as sucky as Locke's because he actually tried to be a good father. He also said he was a dick for what he did to Sabre but he still deserved it for treating him like crap. Knuckles agrees to help him out of the shower, both relieved that he hasn't suffered any serious injuries. Locke decides he's going to take it easy while Knuckles returns to Wyn's to help him install his new water heater. After doing so, Knuckles tells Rouge about Locke's childhood and why he fathered him the way he did. He also says that Locke was much more of a loving person than Sabre ever was despite all his flaws. Knuckles also tells Lara-Le about the tattoo of Locke's ex-girlfriend but, while surprised, she isn't upset since he hid it so well. Locke holds a picture of Knuckles in his trailer, proud of him, hoping to one day see him become a grandparent as well.
Fun Facts:
We learn that Locke's abusive nature comes from being abused himself as a child by his even more abusive father, Sabre. It's revealed that Locke has a tattoo of his first love's name on his right buttcheek despite keeping it hidden from all his future lovers including Lara-Le.
