Episode 448 - The Taste of Love is Sweet
Taped: 8/20/17
Plot:
Vector and Vanilla bring Charisma to see Cream, Tails, and their children. Also there is Butter who bakes cookies for everybody. Butter reflects on her life, having grown up during World War II while her grandfather, a Veteran of World War I, wanted to fight in Europe despite being confined to a wheelchair. She also brings up how Vanilla was born during the Vietnam War and almost arrived on the freeway as the freezing February weather led to her husband Willard's car taking to start. She also mentions the day Charisma was born, chuckling about how it happened which embarrasses Vanilla. While Butter goes to the bathroom, Vanilla wonders about her old age and confesses that she isn't prepared to lose her so soon. Vector replies that she shouldn't worry too much about it and Vanilla thinks she may have a few years left in her anyway. Butter comes back just as the timer dings and she takes the cookies out for everyone to enjoy. Butter mentions that the cookies are thick and sticky because she used a recipe that called for extra butter. She says the recipe is on par with Paula Deen, only she isn't a racist and was taught not to discriminate by her mother after seeing a battalion of African America soldiers going off to war in Japan. After Butter turns in for the night, Vector and Vanilla gather their things and leave Cream and her sons with Butter. The following morning, Cream wakes up to see Miles and Sam playing together and wonder where Butter is. Cream checks on Butter who turns out to be unresponsive in her bed with a weak pulse. She calls on Vanilla to come over immediately and then calls for an ambulance to take Butter to the hospital, fearing the worst. Dr. Doctor informs Cream and Vanilla that Butter has passed away en route to the hospital and that nothing could have been done to save her. A few days later, Reverend Priest presides at Butter's funeral, reminding everyone of the memories she gave while she was alive. He invites Vanilla to give the eulogy and remembers all the good times she had with Butter, saying she raised her right. She treasured most her golden years where she was not just a wonderful grandmother to Cream and Charisma but she acted like a grandmother to everyone she knew. A few days pass and Vanilla and Vector talk about how things have settled down after Butter's death. Vector then brings her outside where they find Charmy, Mighty, and Espio holding candles while Eric plays "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day in tribute to Butter.
Fun Facts:
It's learned that Vanilla's father was named Willard though Butter accidentally hints to having an affair with a man named Leonard. This episode was originally chosen by Fieldsy for her birthday selection though, by an extreme coincidence, also served as a tribute to Junkaholic95's grandmother who passed away just hours before this episode was performed.
