Episode 446 - Super Sonic Bros. 3: The Physical Challenge
Taped: 8/6/17
Plot:
Sonic and Knuckles open the show, thanking everyone for their support at keeping The New Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog around for nine years before introducing the day's episode: Sonic's team taking on the Mario Bros. team on Double Dare.
Sonic and Mario begin the game by flinging fish pies toward Amy and Princess Peach who have to catch three in oversized pants. Amy edges out Peach by taking one to the face before it slides into her pants. Marc Summers introduces Sonic and his team playing in blue with Amy, Knuckles, and Cream who are playing for the Mobian Cancer Research Fund. Mario has brought Luigi, Peach, and Toad who are playing for Toad Citizens in Need in the Mushroom Kingdom. Marc explains the rules with questions worth $500, $1,000 on a dare, and $2,000 on a double dare and physical challenges. Sonic's team answers the first question about the Domino's Pizza mascot from 1986 correctly. They also answer the next question about the country where Dunkirk is on a double dare. Mario's team assumes control when they identify W as the chemical symbol for Tungsten on a dare. They give control right back when Sonic's team gets Maurice Sendak as the author of Where the Wild Things Are. They also get the last question of the round about Jupiter's moons correct giving them the lead $4,500 to $1,000. Much later on in Round 2, Mario and Luigi can't figure out a question about Leonard Nimoy and have to take a physical challenge. Luigi has to direct a blindfolded Mario into popping milk-filled balloons and filling a cup above the line in 30 seconds or less. They barely miss the challenge, giving Sonic's team $4,000 and the victory. At the obstacle course, Marc gives a run-through of the obstacles going from Cream to Knuckles to Amy to Sonic and the prizes going to one lucky home winner:
1. "The Big Cheese" for a Garfield phone (Cream)
2. "Pick It" for a Franklin Word Wiz (Knuckles)
3. "Gator Alley" for a mountain bike (Amy)
4. "Soda Jerk" for a Yamaha keyboard (Sonic)
5. "Pipeline" for an electric guitar (Cream)
6. "In One Ear" for a stereo system (Knuckles)
7. "Bathtub" for a sailboat (Amy)
8. "1-Ton Human Hamster Wheel" for a Jeep Cherokee (Sonic)
Cream squeezes through the gak-filled cheese and grabs the flag, passing it to Knuckles. Knuckles reaches up the left nostril digging deep, eventually finding the flag and passing it to Amy. Amy, who openly admits is terrified of alligators and bad at monkey bars, nervously swings to the other side to grab the flag and pass it to Sonic. Sonic gets doused in grape soda which Knuckles licks off the floor but quickly finds the flag and passes it to Cream. Cream crawls her way through the chocolate-filled pipes to the next flag and passes it to Knuckles. Knuckles wriggles his way through the waxy ears much to his disgust, grabs the flag and hands it to Amy. Amy dives head first into the bathtub filled with foam blocks but struggles to find the flag, eventually finding it stuck to one of the blocks and quickly passes it to Sonic. Sonic uses the remaining ten seconds on the clock to easily spin the giant hamster wheel and lower the arm holding the flag. Cream grabs the flag from the Hamster Wheel just as time expires, winning all the prizes for the home viewer. Knuckles celebrates by shoving Marc up one of the Pick It nostrils. Sonic then throws him in Gator Alley and Cream hugs him covering him in gak.
Sonic Sez: Sonic catches Knuckles about to light a bonfire with gas-covered wood. Sonic tells him if someone tells you something is a bad idea, don't do it or you're stupid.
Fun Facts:
This episode celebrated 9 years of The New Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It's revealed that Knuckles is a habitual nose picker yet is disgusted by earwax.
