Episode 427 - A-Wading We Will Go
Taped 3/5/17
Plot:
Jenny calls Amy, telling her she caught a nasty bug which requires her to come over. Amy tells Sonic he has to watch over the kids for a few days which includes taking them to the YMCA for swimming lessons. Amy warns Sonic that the kids better be fine due to Sonic bringing home a Mexican kid instead of Flash the last time he watched over them. Amy leaves just as the kids announce that Sonic has to take them over to the YMCA. Sonic takes them inside his truck but can't get Sonic Jr. to give up his innertube so he can strap him into his car seat. When they arrive, they are greeted by Bark, the swimming instructor, along with Cream and Tails who are there with Miles. The children adjust accordingly to the water but Sonic has to be cajoled into the pool by Bark, first by being thrown in and then by getting dunked completely. In spite of it, Sonic eventually does warm up and get friendly with the water on his own. Meanwhile, Amy visits Jenny in Grand Metropolis who has caught the norovirus going around. Jenny complains about being sick while pregnant before puking up a key that she lost. Amy also gives her advice by telling her how it felt to be pregnant with Sonic's children. Jenny is also surprised to hear Sonic took the kids to swimming lessons, knowing his fear of water. Back at the pool, Sonic and the kids practice floating in the shallow end with noodles before swimming without them from side to side. The last part of the lesson involves everybody going into the deep end, swimming to the shallow end and back. Sonic panics at first but turns it into a competition and chases after Flash and Amber. Everyone notices Sonic Jr. hasn't finished yet and Sonic ducks his head underwater to see that he's drowning. He brings him to the surface and Bark congratulates him for his act of heroism, stating any father would put aside his own fears if it meant saving his son's life. After Sonic and Jr. try the course again, Bark announces that everybody has passed his class and they chow down on cookies. Amy comes back from Grand Metropolis, exhausted but willing to have a quick chat with her family. She is flabbergasted to learn that Sonic can now swim and that he saved Jr. in the pool. Amy expresses that Jenny has vastly improved on her alcoholism and that she seemed to be feeling a lot better by the time she left. Amy also discovers that the chlorinated water in the pool has made Sonic's feet manageable for a pedicure for once. Sonic then tells Lightning that he won't be up for "pooling around" anytime soon.
