Episode 414 - Lights, Camera, Platinum
Taped 11/13/16
Plot:
Platinum rushes into his family's den and accidentally wakes up Silver by levitating him off the couch. He explains that his favorite show, Interscience Highway with Professor Cosmos, will be on shortly and tells his father that everyone at school is talking about it. Silver has the chance to see what the show is like: an interactive edutainment science show where kids take part in the experiments. Silver sees some similarities between Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye the Science Guy despite Platinum not knowing who they are. Since it's the Friday show, it's the last day for the child assistant of the week. The weekly contest is announced by The Big Voice in the Sky Guy for someone to take her place and Platinum begs his father to let him audition. After he and Blaze read through the terms and conditions online, they let Platinum shoot an audition video. With Tails and Cream's help, Silver records Platinum performing an experiment he saw on the show. Professor Cosmos, who is a child-hating, cigarette-smoking cocaine addict, picks Platinum's video out of the blue because he hates the other kids who appear to have Down Syndrome. At taping day, Platinum meets Professor Cosmos for the first time before sending him for makeup and to get fitted for his lab coat. In his dressing room, Professor Cosmos has second thoughts as he has sex with Sadie, a midget actor who plays Priscilla Penguin on the show. While taping the first episode, the professor has an argument on camera with the director. The show then breaks for lunch with Silver and Blaze expressing concern about Professor Cosmos to Platinum. The actor who plays Laughy the Giggling Gargoyle then offers to have lunch with Platinum and tells him about how the professor's life went downhill after a nasty divorce. An unaired experiment from Season 1 in which his son died also had a strong impact on his personal life. He's even facing declining ratings which may not get him renewed for another season. In spite of it all, he still loves doing the show because it's his purpose in life to teach kids science. After the final episode tapes up, which happens to be the season finale, the professor opens up to Platinum about his side of the story. He says that he has feelings with Sadie who pulled Platinum aside and confesses his love when she reveals that she overheard his conversation. Professor Cosmos proposes to her and she accepts much to the delight of Platinum and his parents. The professor thanks Platinum for helping him get over his insecurities before he and Sadie leave. Some time later, the professor writes back to Platinum, saying that he and Sadie will be raising a child together which they will name her after Platinum in his honor. The adults wonder what the child will be like when she gets older... and it turns out she will be working as a pole dancer in 21 years.
