Episode 413 - Make Station Square Great Again
Taped 11/6/16
Plot:
The mayor of Station Square tells his aide that he has been around too long and decides he wants to retire when his term ends. The aide tries to talk him out of it but calls a press conference after seeing things his way. Chaotix sees the conference and they try to convince an unwilling Vanilla to run since she has strong leadership qualities. Just then, Eggman announces in a breaking news story that he will be running for mayor, introducing frivolous policies if he gets elected. Vanilla reconsiders her position and opts to run against Eggman to protect the sanity of Station Square. This news convinces Sonic and Amy not to run for Canada and they opt to help Vanilla on her campaigning. Sonic runs to Angel Island to tell Knuckles and Rouge about the upcoming election and they decide to help him out. They then head over to Locke's trailer where he's firm on voting for Eggman until Knuckles tells him that his grandchildren could be roboticized if he wins. The gang then helps Vanilla prepare for her debate with Eggman only to discover that Bill O'Reilly is the moderator. O'Reilly grills Vanilla on her personal life by making connections to her questionable status as a candidate but merely asks Eggman to follow up with his reasoning. Vanilla honestly answers the questions to the best of her ability but Eggman opens up more about the vile nature of his policies. After the debate, the polls show Eggman winning in a landslide and that early voting has him on top. Shadow then appears, telling the gang the early voting came from the Black Comet who are in favor of Eggman in spite of his scandal. He tells them that he intercepted information about Eggman that he plans on revealing to Station Square in an effort to dissuade the city from voting for him. The gang sees their political ad on television, clearing up all the mistakes O'Reilly made during the debate before seeing one by Eggman aimed at "destroying hedgehogs". On Election Day, the gang is watching the polls when they see the Black Comet votes don't count due to having registered too late. However, a write-in candidate picks up speed and the polling site crashes due to too much traffic. They turn on the television just as the polls close and the anchor is handed the results. The winner of the election turns out to be current mayor George O'Brien's son, George O'Brien II. During the mayor's victory speech, everyone congratulates each other over the job they did, relieved that Eggman didn't win. The winner wraps up his speech by thanking Vanilla for her inspiration and announcing that she will be his advisor if she accepts. He also has Sonic search for Eggman as his first order of business. Vanilla plans on declining his offer but then discovers that the report said that she lost by two votes. Locke then comes over to console Vanilla and reveals that he and his buddies from the VFW voted for O'Brien since they didn't think she was cut out for the job. Vanilla thinks it over and says she prefers the quiet life with Vector and Chaotix instead of being a politician. Vanilla then says everyone should check their facts before voting so they can make an educated decision.
