Episode 396 - Fourth of Ju-Lies
Taped: 7/3/16
Plot:
Cream is watching the latest episode of Junkaholic's web series as Tails steps in. They learn of his new lover named Llewellyn the Fox, better known as Lew, and how they met at Mobi-Mart 2 months prior. Cream gets the idea to invite the new happy couple to their 4th of July party. Cream texts Junkaholic who wakens from his nap and is unsure of whether or not to go. Meanwhile, Knuckles and Rouge have joined Tails and Cream as they wonder how Sonic and family are doing on their trip to Six Flags. Soon, the Hindenhog lands and out steps Junkaholic with no lover in sight. He explains that Lew is in the British Royal Army and has been called to duty at the last minute and left for his home country of England that morning. The gang quickly notice Junkaholic's extra girth since their last encounter nearly 2 years prior. As the night progresses, Knuckles grows more and more skeptical of Junkaholic's story and begins to smell a rat, questioning why the hedgehog has no pictures of his newfound fox lover or how, based on the description of his appearance, he could possibly be in the army. Junkaholic insists his story is 100% true and further explains that he's doesn't like smartphones and doesn't take many pictures. He goes on to say that Lew is camera shy and that he enjoys old cars, alternative energy sources, buildings things, and apparently once dabbled in acting. After putting Knuckles in his place, he decides to help Miles and Sam launch fireworks. Knuckles recruits Rouge to dust off her spy skills and do some investigating. She flies over to Chaotix HQ where Charmy is the only one still awake and is up playing an Assassin's Creed game. He lets Rouge in and invites her to use the Chaotix computer to do some research on the suspicious fox. Surprisingly, Rouge discovers that Junkaholic's lover is a real person and mostly fits the description though no mention of being in the army is found on his record. Rouge prints her discovery and thanks Charmy who is too caught up in his video games to notice her departure. She returns to the party with her findings and Knuckles still isn't fully convinced. Junkaholic steps over just after receiving a message from Lew informing him he's landed safely in England. Knuckles gets the bright idea to snatch his phone and pretend to be impressed while he shows the number to Rouge and has her call the questionable beau. At the airport in England, Llewellyn is relieved to finally be away from Junkaholic just as his phone rings. Initially he dreads who he assumes it to be but doesn't recognize the number. On the other end, Rouge asks if she has the right person and if he knows Junkaholic. Lew tells all as he explains that Junkaholic was an annoying, overly clingy nightmare to be with so he fabricated the story about being in the army as a way to free himself from his torture. He also was originally only in Station Square on vacation, not intending to move there, but gave in to Junkaholic thinking they might actually be in love and rented a cheap apartment in the meantime. However, over the course of 2 months, it quickly became painfully obvious things weren't working so that's when he formulated and executed his escape plan. As they hang up, Knuckles wonders how they'll break the news but Tails and Rouge think it's best to let him be oblivious. As Cream takes Miles and Sam to bed, Junkaholic comes over having overheard the commotion and takes notice to the file Rouge printed, demanding an explanation. Rouge and Knuckles cave and tell him the truth, though he's none too surprised as it was something he feared all along. Junkaholic opens up about his troubled childhood, growing up with a father who treated him badly and a mother who didn't seem to care, even going so far as to marry another man who turned out to be equally terrible. He goes on further to explain that his clingy tendencies were also how he convinced Stormy to hook up with him in the first place and, after their short-lived marriage, how he felt more broken than before afterwards. Junkaholic then explains that his web series has helped him cope some but hasn't completely filled the void in his life. He concludes his story stating that he doesn't miss being evil, realizing he was never good at it to begin with and that it no longer brought him any satisfaction after losing Stormy. His friends reassure him that he'll find someone eventually and that he's fine just the way he is. Everyone says their good-byes for the night as Junkaholic takes off in the Hindenhog to return home.
