Episode 386 - Platinum Goes Platinum
Taped: 4/24/16
Plot:
Platinum's sixth birthday party ends with the birthday boy setting the clown on fire. Blaze takes Platinum upstairs for his bath while the rest of the adults start cleaning up. She has his bath ready just as Silver loses control of the power washer, causing Blaze to run downstairs and turn the water off. Platinum plays with bath toys and scrubs himself while making up a song on the spot. He is interrupted by Blaze who asks him if he's cleaning himself before being interrupted by Sam being cute. Silver sees Sam with his foot in his mouth and tries it himself only to get it stuck doing so. Blaze pulls it out for him and goes back upstairs to the bathroom. She overhears Platinum singing to himself and he stops before she dries him off. The next morning, Platinum dawdles by singing his song again which almost causes him to miss the bus. The kids overhear the bus driver's ranting of his nasty divorce which also causes him to drive poorly. Later on during recess, Lightning comes across Platinum writing something on a notepad. He sees the words to his song and he changes them around so he has better flow. He then recommends having the music teacher have a look at his song the next day. The music teacher advises Platinum to start singing the words while recording himself so that he can have a melody. He hires Lightning to record a raw demo with his Let's Play equipment and sends the audio file to Swen and Eric who can add accompaniment. Eric thinks the song has potential so he sends the finished demo over to Atlantic records. Atlantic signs Platinum on the spot for a recording session and even provides him with some backup musicians. The executive then promises to take Platinum on tour but when he tells the news to his parents, they tell him he shouldn't be famous because he has his whole life ahead of him. Platinum decides the celebrity life isn't for him but when he tells Atlantic records to drop his contract, the executive tells him that by opting out, they now legally own his song. Blaze and Silver then comfort Platinum in his room and tell them that he learned a harsh lesson about the entertainment industry. Platinum promises to sing his own songs without the fame that comes with it. Morgan Freeman delivers the epilogue, saying that since Platinum as a minor, Atlantic owning his song is null and void. Platinum also just as quickly gave up singing as a hobby.
