Episode 377 - Really Great Shoe
Taped 2/21/16
Plot:
While Amy is out shopping with Cream, Sonic and Tails pitch their idea for a 1970s-style glitzy variety show to a television studio manager. He gives them the green light for a pilot since he is canceling one of their shows. Locke and Knuckles are in charge of the set and they design one for the pilot taping with giant letters spelling out Sonic's name and lights that accidentally cause mini fires. Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails interview potential guests and recruit talent for the show. Danny the Shrew plays a potato like a flute, Bark the Polar Bear shows off some food sculpting techniques he learned from his fiance, Ramone. Sonic reluctantly lets Sonic Jr. perform and he sings a song about a cow. Sonic then arrives home and tells Cream and Amy that they're shooting their pilot soon. He then researches some ideas for how variety shows work by watching Vanilla's old tapes of the Sonny & Cher Show. The next day taping begins and everything starts off smoothly. However, during their opening monologue, a heckler throws a shoe at Tails' head, causing him to lose his memory. He can't talk straight or remember any of his friends or even his family. Amy drives to Chaotix HQ where she asks Vanilla if she can bring Miles, hoping they can jog his memory. By this time, Tails has regained his memory but he still can only talk in gibberish. The giant letter "S" from Sonic's name on stage crashes down on Tails' head and he miraculously recovers. However, since they only have enough time for one act, Sonic lets Sonic Jr. perform his song, resulting in bored applause from the audience. Unfortunately, the show isn't picked up as the show the manager had intended to cancel was revived thanks to a production loophole. The gang decides together that it was for the best since Sonic was never intended to do variety shows anyway. Amy then points out the idea wasn't as bad as taking her to the Yukon while she was eight months pregnant.
Fun Facts:
Bark the Polar Bear makes his second appearance in this episode and it's revealed he's found new love since his failed relationship with Derrick Greyfox in Episode 309 - Double Fisting.
Cast:
Junky: Amy, Knuckles, Locke, Bark, Sonic Jr., Vanilla, Danny the Shrew, Rich DiPirro, Paul Boland, TV station manager
