Episode 376 - 50 Shades of Purple
Taped 2/14/16
Plot:
With Vanilla gone, Chaotix passes the time during a blizzard by playing ball in the house. This upsets Espio who is writing a novel with Charmy teasing him for it. He takes his work downstairs while Chaotix continues their ball-playing. When Espio is nearly finished, he hires Eric to help him write the juicier scenes. Since Eric can't read, Espio tells him what's going on and receives feedback on how to make the scenes even sexier. Eric tells him he has the makings of a good erotic novel and offers to have his friend Vinny publish it. They go to Vinny where he tells Espio that his novel "Beat Office" might be another "50 Shades of Grey". Meanwhile at the beauty shop, Amy asks Sonia how far Espio has gotten with her. Sonia replies that they haven't had sex yet and hope that their Valentine's Day date will get Espio thinking about it. A few days later the book is finally published and becomes a million-seller. Espio is thrilled to hear that it's doing so well, however, when he reads the reviews, he doesn't think people actually read the book because it's inspiring the readers to do outlandish things. One reviewer even suggested that it made the perfect bedtime story for his daughter. Meanwhile, Amy and Sonia go to the bookstore where the novel is almost sold out since nearly everyone has a copy. They also notice on one of the televisions that Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen on The Talk admitted to liking it as well and that they are putting it on their book club list. They continue hearing strange things about the book even after leaving the bookstore. Later that evening Espio takes Sonia to the restaurant where an overweight woman even tells Espio that it's convinced her to join Cirque du Soleil although it was never Espio's intent. Sonia thanks Espio for dedicating the book but Espio, after hearing the non sequitur things people have to say about the book, confesses to not being very hungry. He and Sonia leave the restaurant and have sex back at her swamp instead. Espio even proclaims that he enjoyed it because he wrote the book about it. The rest of Chaotix is proud of Espio for finally making some leeway towards a permanent relationship with Sonia. Just then, Vanilla calls out Espio for his novel and throws her copy at him. She criticizes it ostensibly because it promotes Neo-Nazism, which Espio says was never even mentioned in the book.
Fun Facts:
It's revealed that Espio and Sonia didn't actually have sex at the mini-golf course in Episode 256 - Ich bin ein Holzfäller, but rather ran from a mugger, thus explaining the blood stains.
