Episode 356 - I Play Today
Taped: 9/20/15
Plot:
Sonic drags Amy into the city to look for a music store that can help him with his guitar. When Sonic shows the owner the guitar, he is told that it's a TV prop and decides he wants one just like it. After browsing through the guitar selections, Sonic initially decides on one similar to Espio's ESP because he wants him to teach him one-on-one how to play. After the shop owners shows him several different styles of beginner guitars, Sonic falls in love with a purple Epiphone SG. He settles on buying the guitar then and there, knowing Eric plays a Gibson SG, and the owner fits it with a bright yellow pick gaurd similar to his prop guitar. He then drops Amy off at home and goes off to visit Manic and Sonia who are having a jam session with Espio and Eric. They comment on Sonic's fake guitar playing and he comes in, saying he actually wants to learn. Eric and Espio agree to give Sonic his first lesson and gives him most of the basics before following Eric's lead in handling the guitar. Before long, Sonic starts playing the three chords of the chorus to High Voltage which impresses everybody in the room. After the lesson ends, Sonic expresses interest in playing for real again with Manic and Sonia with Eric and Espio agreeing to teach him some more. Sonic comes back home and plays a sample of what he learned for Amy and Cream. Despite Amy not liking the colors of the guitar, he is impressed that he could play so well after his first lesson. Amy also tells him how proud she that he can be a celebrity while being capable of learning something new. Just then, Eric arrives with a normal colored pick guard for Sonic's guitar wishing him the best of luck with his practice.
Fun Facts:
Sonic begins learning guitar for real. It's revealed that the guitar he used in the Sonic Underground TV show as nothing more than a cheaply made prop. This episode was a last minute replacement for the choices intended for this week. (see post below)
Cast:
Junky: Amy, shop owner
Koopa: Sonic, Manic, Espio
Fieldsy: Sonia, Cream
Eric: himself
Note from Junkaholic:
This episode was done in memory of Daniel Kyre of Cyndago, a Youtube channel dedicated to sketch comedy and music, who recently passed away after an apparent attempt at suicide. Cyndago was also very close to Youtube personality, Markiplier, who said what needs to be said best in this Facebook post. Daniel, Ryan, and Matt of Cyndago created a lot of funny content not only on their own but also in collaboration with Markiplier who I've often turned to for a pick-me-up and inspiration. Daniel was a very talented musician and always gave 100% to any project and will be sorely missed by family, friends, and fans alike. It's been made public that Cyndago will not be continuing but Markiplier will be in due time. Gentlemen, you've been an inspiration for me and many others and my thoughts are with you and you have my condolences.
This is very personal to me as I, myself have experienced depression and I know what thoughts can go through someone's mind when they're feeling helpless, hopeless, unloved, and/or depressed and may no longer wish to be a part of this world. One's outwardly positive behavior may not always be what it seems and may be a cover-up for a lot of emotional pain. Often times the signs are there but are not apparent until it's too late. If anyone reading this is going through depression, please seek help. Suicide is never the answer and there are people out there who love you and care for you even if you may not realize it at the moment. There are also lots of places out there to seek professional help if need be. I'm very fortunate to have friends and loved ones who look out for me. My friends here at TNAoSTH in particular help me escape the nerve-wracking nature of my daily life each week and I'm forever grateful. That's why I continue to do this show despite our extremely small following. Find your healthy escape as I have found mind. Surround yourself with positivity and know that things will get better. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually they will. More importantly than anything else, remember that you matter.
