Episode 297 - Enter Guardians
Taped: 7/20/2014
Plot:
When Rouge begins shows signs of labor, Locke and Knuckles help her into a birthing chair built by Locke himself. Locke lights scented herbs around the room which calms Rouge down when her water breaks. Wyn and Mace come on in to witness the miracle of birth but have to watch from the couch because of their contamination risk. Locke checks Rouge who has dilated four inches and is ready to push. After one push, Rouge leaks vaginal juice which Locke slips on and knocks himself out. While Wyn calls an ambulance, Knuckles checks Locke who has cracked his head open and Rouge who is still in labor. He tends to both as Rouge continues to push her first child until Wyn gets off the phone. Wyn rushes to the medicine chest to get gauze for Locke's head wound while Rouge gives birth to her first child, a white bat boy. Wyn finally returns from the bathroom and starts tending to Locke while Knuckles calls Mace over to help Rouge deliver her second child. Lara-Le comes in just as Rouge starts pushing yet again and after some cajoling, Rouge shoots the second one out, a red echidna girl. Knuckles hands the newborn twins to Mace so he can cut their cords and pass them off to Lara-Le. Rouge turns out to be fine but Locke becomes unresponsive and Wyn starts performing CPR on him. The ambulance arrives just as Rouge gets to hold her babies and push the afterbirth out. Knuckles tags along with his new family and Locke in the ambulance and calls Sonic to tell him the good news. He also instructs him to bring Amy, Tails and Cream to the hospital so they can all meet together. Once they're all in the maternity ward, Knuckles introduces the twins to the world before Dr. Doctor tells everyone the latest with Locke. Just as he's about to do so, Locke barges in, perfectly fine except his head is all bandaged up. Knuckles names the boy Roger because he looks like Rouge and the name resembles hers. He also thanks Wyn for helping Locke in his hour of need by naming the girl similar to his name, Wynona. However, since neither of Knuckles' children is a male echidna, they may not be eligible for guarding the Master Emerald. Locke, however, sheds some light since there is no rule in the lineage concerning twins. In this case, they would both be next in line for guarding the Master Emerald until one of them has a son of his or her own. Rouge remembers Jenny's pendant and puts it around Wynona's neck before the new family heads home. Knuckles comments that despite Locke's accident (and commenting why exactly he is retired), everything went smoothly. Rouge and Knuckles talk about what to look out for in their own species as Roger and Wynona grow up. Back at the hospital, Locke asks Wyn why, even though they hate each other, he felt compelled to help him. Wyn explains that he sees good in everybody, even though Locke treats him badly. Fighting back tears, Locke opens up to Wyn, telling them the only reason he hates him is because he has Lara-Le. He also tells Wyn that he's his first friend in 50 years, having received no thanks for being a midwife simply because he was the only one on the island and a total jerk. They decide to scare off the doctor together but once they're out, Locke kicks Wyn in the nuts and flees. Swen interrupts Knuckles' monologue at the end of the show to ask why he missed his birthday, to which Knuckles is flabbergasted to have forgotten.
