Episode 293 - We Never Turn Down Work that Plays
Taped: 6/22/2014
Plot:
Chaotix arrives back, having worked on their twelfth case in a month when they realize they have a concert in four days. Garnet Hall, the venue, calls to inform them that their concert has to be pushed back to the next day because Cirque du Soleil has scheduled an emergency performance and needs time to rehearse. An old man then calls requesting Chaotix perform for his granddaughter's birthday party with only Espio thrilled at the gig. The rest of the band dissuades the idea and Espio is forced to call Garnet Hall's manager back to tell him they're going forth with the rescheduled date. They have no other time to rehearse because they need to stop a bank robbery that night. At Garnet Hall the next day, nothing goes right during the rehearsal. Vector forgets the words to the song, Espio screws up the chords and an amp explodes. Since none of them can perform, Charmy realizes they have to fake the concert. To do so, they download Audacity for Cream who edits some of their studio tracks to make it sound as if they're being performed live by the band. By the time she's finished, the concert is ready to start. They get through the first few songs without a hitch until Vector's laptop starts overheating literally. Cream puts the music onto her laptop and they continue faking the performance until Charmy loses his drumstick. It hits Eric who falls off the stage and twists his ankle. At that point, the audience realizes the show is fake and they start booing loudly. Cream walks up to the mic while all this is going on and thundershoots the crowd for being so selfish. Eric then takes the opportunity to further call out the crowd because the band was unprepared and rushed for the performance. The crowd does show some decency when they applaud Cream for the hard work she did for the concert. A few days later, Chaotix plays at the granddaughter's birthday party and not only do they have fun, they are a rousing success. Garnet Hall is burned down by the crowd from the botched concert in protest of Cirque du Soleil bumping up Chaotix's concert so it turned out they were indeed the last act in the venue. A new concert building with its website designed by Cream is slated to replace Garnet Hall and it will be named in honor of Eric. The manager even says Chaotix will perform the first concert there upon its completion in December, giving them plenty of time to rehearse. Their next gig turns out to be a bar mitzvah, much to Eric's chagrin who is tired of playing around children.
Fun Facts:
It's revealed that Eric can't stand being around children. The new concert hall replacing Garnet Hall is named The Eric Prower Auditorium.
