Episode 287 - Rogue Rouge Rage
Taped: 5/11/14
Plot:
Knuckles tries to give Rouge a present for Mother's Day but she flies away in a huff before she can open it. Wyn, Lara-Le and Mace arrive at the house where the latter explains it's one of the symptoms of late pregnancy. Knuckles shows them the present he was about to give his wife, a diamond ring with two hearts symbolizing her twins. Lara-Le agrees to help Knuckles look for her since she has previously experienced the pangs of pregnancy twice. Meanwhile, Espio does a background check on Rouge and discovers there is no record of her parents. Charmy assumes that she's either orphaned or her parents are dead, possibly both, so Espio searches Station Square's death records. Searching around Red Mountain, Knuckles and Lara-Le talk about what happened prior to Rouge taking off. Knuckles assumes that Rouge is having worse mood swings since she's having twins and is feeling self-conscious about her size. Knuckles tells Lara that he has no idea who anybody in her family is because it's one of the things she never talks about. He also explains that he grew attached to her ever since they acted out the scene where he saved her life from Sonic Adventure 2. Knuckles asks Lara if he screwed things up and when she says no, he tells her he tries his best. Back at Chaotix, despite a search of Rouge's parents turning up empty, Espio concludes that Rouge is a living being because she has a blood type. Espio tries digging for Rouge's grandparents instead as Charmy takes another hit of computer duster, hearing sitar music that nobody else hears. Knuckles asks Lara why his father originally wanted to put him up for adoption, to which his mother answers that he was in some sort of stupor. He explains that Locke never quite got over her and hits on Rouge because of her boobs. They eventually find Rouge at a cemetery and it's that point that Rouge reveals a deep dark secret about her family. She came from a line of treasure hunters and her parents died on her fourth birthday in a freak accident. Her mother, Maron, died giving birth to what would have been her sister during the accident. She confesses that she is afraid of dying the same way her mother did, leaving Knuckles to deduce that as the reason why she doesn't like talking about her family. She explains that she hasn't been on any treasure hunts since she got together with Knuckles but her husband tells her that she already found a treasure, himself. He then expresses how grateful he is of the chance to become a father before handing Rouge her mother's day gift. Rouge then tells them about her childhood, how she was orphaned and eventually became a double agent for GUN when she was of age. Knuckles offers to have Lara "adopt" Rouge because they are so close, saying she will always be there for her. After doing some research, Chaotix meets up with Wyn and Mace, determining the very thing Rouge confessed to Knuckles. Knuckles, Lara-Le and Rouge arrive back to see Chaotix high on air duster making partially coherent statements. Offended, Charmy curses everybody out before flying away. Knuckles tells them they don't have to chase after him since he knows what causes his mood swings. Knuckles gives Lara her mother's day present, a figurine that opens up to reveal a childhood picture, before chastising Mace's present, a homemade candle which he thinks was constructed from earwax. Locke then shows up with a Q-tip, proclaiming he has more if he needs it and causing Knuckles to question if he or his family has ears.
