Episode 272 - Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
Taped 1/26/14
Plot:
While Vanilla watches her favorite sewing show and drinks tea, Chaotix begins rehearsing for their new album with loud music. Their performance unfortunately becomes so loud Vanilla gets hit with her sewing machine and her ears part as a huge lump forms. She rushes to the Chaotix side of the house to pull the plug on their rehearsal. Cream then arrives to help her bake an angel food cake with Charisma for their mother/daughter baking day and lets Chaotix off with a slap on the wrist. When Chaotix continues playing music louder than before, next door neighbors Grandpa Cecil and Grandma Gertie call 911 to complain. The dispatcher has trouble comprehending Cecil but is able to send a police car to Chaotix. They arrive just as their practice session ends to tell them they can't play loud music anymore in their house. Just to show how loud their music was, they even woke Tikal from the dead. Eric finds a loophole in the officer's order; they can practice at his house instead. They lug the equipment over and start playing again, much to Swen's annoyance. Soon enough, the police arrive again and give another ordinance; they can't play any music within a 50-mile radius. When they mention they're Chaotix, the police don't buy the story and change it to 100 miles. Charmy suggests they try playing their music in space and they board ARK where Shadow tells them they can play anywhere they want. As long as he isn't in the room, he'll be okay with it. As they set up, they accidentally turn on a transmitter, sending their performance to every television set in Station Square. Sonic and Amy hear the performance, causing their ears to shoot flames and Lightning mutes the volume by turning the television into a ball. Sonia rushes over to Sonic's house with Manic claiming the music was so loud, his TV blew him out of his house. A surprisingly sober Jenny then arrives to detail the horrors of the music which made her question her sobriety. The police come to the scene not too long after to ask Sonic for help. They figure out it's Chaotix judging by the music and Lightning puts the TV set down. They watch Shadow attack Chaotix with his Chaos powers for playing with his equipment before kicking them out. Amy tells the officers they learned their lesson and that they need to lift the ban, to which they agree. Jenny then suggests they should build a soundproof room to rehearse in instead of their office. This impresses Amy who has Sonic go over to Chaotix's to inform them of the ban being lifted and to present Jenny's idea. Sonic also tells Chaotix that everybody heard their performance and saw them get taken down by Shadow since it was being broadcast live from ARK. Chaotix promises they won't let a practice get that out of hand again while Sonic and Vanilla suggest a soundproof room to ease their troubles. They build one from the game room in the basement which amazes Vanilla when it works. They also move their games to their former practice stage in the Chaotix office. Grandma Gertie notices the pool table has been moved and has Cecil call the police but he's fast asleep. Gertie claims she still has it as the episode ends.
Fun Facts:
Grandma Gertie makes her first appearance since Episode 106 - All Hail Tails. Jenny appears 100% sober for the first time in this episode. Charmy abuses Amp energy drink instead of his usual drugs in this episode. It's revealed that Vanilla has a passion for sewing as well as her usual baking.
