Episode 268 - Dead or Alive, I've Got a 45
Taped 12/29/13
Plot:
Cream and Tails help Vanilla clean up her attic while Miles watches. They find Charisma who is playing hide-and-seek in a box and Vanilla discovers her old record collection in another one. She then finds an old turntable in yet another box and is pleasantly surprised to discover it still works. Downstairs, Vector recovers from a hangover, puking in his unconsciousness because he drank so much. They hear the music from the attic and Vector goes up to investigate. Vanilla introduces him to all the bands and artists she grew up hearing with Vector dismissing the majority of them. She then forces him to listen to Yoko Ono, enraging him so much he accidentally destroys the turntable during a tantrum. Vanilla slaps him and promptly calls him out for not appreciating her types of music. She kicks Chaotix out of the house, forcing Charmy to round up Espio who wound up in Asianville as a result of Charmy renting him to a family to pay for Vector's credit card bill. Charmy and Espio agree to apologize on Vector's behalf to Vanilla and reveal a secret they've been hiding. They confess that they look up to her like a mother which moves Vanilla to tears. Vanilla, however, keeps her promise but Charmy and Espio swear that they can change Vector for the better so that they can move back in the house. Meanwhile, Vector has moved in with Sonic and Amy but his language gets to be too much so they kick him out. He then walks across the street to Marine's house, thinking it's Cream's. Marine answers and tells him that Cream actually lives next door to Sonic and Amy but Espio and Charmy pull over before he can get there. They cajole him into the car where they reprimand him for his behavior. They remind him that it hasn't been about money since he married Vanilla and they no longer struggle like they did when they first started Chaotix. Vector opens up and tells them it was his fault he got them kicked out of their house and they drive off to teach him another lesson in his selfishness. Tails and Cream apologize for Vector's scene with Sonic and Amy and tell them he gets crazy whenever he's hung over. Espio and Charmy take Vector to where their old headquarters used to be and reminisce their biggest case to date, finding a lost Cream for Vanilla. They found her in the attic because she was getting over her fears by listening to music...the same music Vector destroyed earlier that day. They then take him to the set of Maury where Vector remembers it was where they found out he was Cream's biological father. The next stop is Stenson's Pharmacy, where Cream came to be, and Vector has no regrets because it led him into becoming a father and having a family. Last, they show him the church where he married Vanilla where Vector proclaims it was the happiest day of their lives. Charmy then brings over Reverend Tyrese who asks Vector to explain why he started Chaotix in the first place. He explains he wanted to help people with their problems and that it wasn't about himself at all. He also asks Reverend for a quick confession and apologizes for being a jerk to everyone he knows. Reverend tells him the way to see it her way is to do things as one, not separately. Charmy and Espio, realizing Vector has indeed changed for the better, bring him back home. Vector has everybody play John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads," and Vanilla immediately falls back in love with him revealing it to be her favorite song. They both exchange apologies and Vanilla discovers Vector did listen to some of the music that was stored away. Vanilla then surprises Vector when she has them jam out to "Jailbreak" by AC/DC before Cream and Tails come home and see the reformed couple. Vanilla and Vector notice the new womanly makeover Charisma gave Tails and compliment that she should be a stylist when she gets older. Chaotix then breaks out with Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman," with Vector kissing Vanilla after singing the opening lines. The song falls apart as everyone laughs at the annoyed Tails. Reverend Tyrese narrates the epilogue where Vector learned to put his family before business and to be more receptive to things. Vanilla also learned to be more patient with Vector and that he'll be out of jail in two months.

This episode marks the first appearance of Reverend Tyrese since Vector and Vanilla's wedding in 2010. We learn Vanilla's favorite song and Vector becomes less money hungry as of this episode.
