Episode 264 - Oh Burry Me Not
Taped 12/1/13
Plot:
Swen and Eric open up the episode with their version of the "All in the Family" theme song containing pop culture references of the '80s and '90s. The phone rings and Swen answers to unsettling news: the death of Knuckles. Team Chaotix is also hit hard with he news and they reminisce on his accomplishments, even the unmentionable and embarrassing ones. Amy and Sonic arrive to console Rouge who tells them he died in an explosion near Ice Cap. Sonic rushes over to Locke's trailer only to find him downing a bottle of whiskey seemingly indifferent to his son's death. Locke then tells Sonic that he retired from guarding the Master Emerald when Knuckles was just a boy and let him take over his place. With Knuckles gone, there is no guardian so he has to see that Rouge becomes a mother to his unborn child. He explains that this is because echidnas value their offspring and do not believe in abortion or adoption. He also reveals that despite their differences, he does actually love Knuckles and genuinely cares about him. He gives Sonic the task of keeping Rouge healthy so she can give birth to a healthy guardian. As Locke returns to his whiskey and lasagna breakfast and his nude station, Sonic goes back to Rouge's house where he relays Locke's instructions back to Amy. At her request, Sonic then rushes back home to check on his kids who are being watched by Tails. Lightning, Amber and Flash are all upset that Knuckles is dead and remember the things they used to do. Sonic comes home and when Lightning tells him he'll miss Knuckles badly, Sonic brings up a flashback of how they first met. He remembers Knuckles sabotaging him out of his Chaos Emeralds upon arriving on Angel Island and his realization that Eggman double crossed him in return. Sonic and Tails then take the time to formally introduce themselves before Amy sprints in confessing her love to Sonic. The flashback ends with Lightning realizing his parents were truly meant to be together. The next day at the funeral, Reverend Priest gives the eulogy listing his accomplishments and those who survived him. As Rouge cries hysterically, Lara-Le and Locke mutually come up to crank Knuckles into the ground. Locke then takes this opportunity to tell Rouge he will be there for her but she can slap him if she gets out of line. He also tells Wyn that he did a good job helping raise Knuckles and he and Lara-Le have another chance with Mace. That night, Knuckles wakes up in his coffin alive and well, wishing he hadn't hooked up a gas stove in Ice Cap Lodge. He realizes that they put shovel claws in his casket and digs through to the surface with ease. He rushes back home where he realizes he doesn't have a house key so he sneaks in through a window. He then trips over a vacuum cleaner, causing dust to erupt all over him. Rouge comes in and at first thinks the house is haunted but is then overjoyed to see Knuckles alive and well. He then gets an idea; since everyone else believes he's dead, he can haunt the living daylights out of all his friends. He first heads over to Swen and Eric's where he literally scares the crap out of the latter and takes Swen's Tupperware container of leftovers and a grape Fanta. He then heads over to Chaotix where he scares Espio so badly he passes out and makes Vector trip and fall down the stairs when he demands his soul. Charmy dismisses this as yet another acid trip before retreating to his room. Knuckles lastly stops by Mighty where he flickers the lights in his room before sneezing on him and jumping out the window. Knuckles then heads over to Tails and Cream where he pretends to be a zombie. When he approaches the bedroom, Tails screams like a girl and dashes out to tell Sonic and Amy. The three come back before Knuckles can pretend to bite Cream. The disguised zombie stumbles back out with Sonic and Amy deciding together they need to see Shadow at once. Knuckles then goes to Locke's trailer where he tells his father that he did not make it to heaven all because of him. As punishment, Knuckles must bring Locke to hell with him with Locke claiming that he's ready to accept his fate. Knuckles then sneezes and Locke realizes that's something ghosts can't do. Locke pinches some dust off Knuckles and upon discovering he's not dead after all, goes raging mad. He chases Knuckles all the way to Lara-Le's house where Knuckles is forced to explain everything that happened and also apologize for the "fun" he had haunting his friends. He then returns back home where Sonic, Amy and a gun-toting Shadow wait for him. Knuckles then tells everyone, with the help of Rouge, that he's still alive and that they all should have shown some decency to check if he was really dead before rushing the funeral. Loving Knuckles' elaborate prank, Shadow gives him his gun as a gift. An envelope then arrives in the mail with ultrasound pictures. Knuckles at first thinks they are copies but when Sonic points out that they're different, he and Rouge realize they're having twins in the near future. Swen then jokes with Eric that the bathroom is open again before Swen ends the show with the final line of the "All in the Family" song.
