Episode 206 - Sonic's Inner Child
Taped: 10/14/2012
With Cream and Tails watching, Sonic decides it's time to help Lightning ride a bike without training wheels for the first time, despite Amy trying to talk him out of it. Tails offers some help and he winds up pushing Lightning on his bike for a wild ride. He causes an accident in an intersection, flies over a hill, goes across a high rise, and bounces down its stairs before arriving in front of Sonic at the front entrance traumatized. When Sonic brings Lightning back to Amy, she asks if Sonic ever had a childhood. He claims he had been fighting Eggman while he was growing up. After lamenting how Sonic's life was comparable to Michael Jackson only far less creepy, Sonic asks Amy to explain that to Manic and Sonia. Instead, Amy asks him to sing because Sonia and Manic told her that he was voiced over in Sonic Underground by Sam Vincent for the musical numbers. He tries to sing but he breaks a window, kills a bird, and forces a neighbor to commit suicide. Amy finally convinces Sonic to spend time with Lightning so he can bring out his inner child. He attempts to do this first by playing catch but his first throw hits him in the face. Tails then suggests a board game and Sonic brings out Mouse Trap. To demonstrate how it works, he sets the contraption and makes Lightning turn the crank making it go. After the cage falls, Bob Barker comes out and scolds Sonic for promoting animal cruelty through the game. He smacks the board over Sonic's head and takes the mouse pieces with him, saying they'll be all right with him. Sonic then takes him to the arcade where Lightning sees D. D. R. and immediately wants to play. While doing so, he steps too hard breaking the dance floor and electrocutes himself. Sonic saves him by unplugging the machine. Lightning wants to go home but Sonic introduces him to Skee Ball instead. Not knowing how to play, he throws balls and they get stuck on top. Bob Barker arrives again and chastises Sonic for his abysmal Skee Ball abilities. The owner of the arcade arrives and tells Sonic and Lightning it's time to go. Sonic realizes that playing games aren't helping so he decides they need to watch one instead. Lightning suggests the racetrack and they go there but a drunk guy in the stands gives them trouble. They begin to fight which leads to the drunk guy forcing a driver out of his car and ramming it full speed at Sonic. At the hospital, Amy and Cream visit Sonic who comes to after the accident. Amy criticizes him for taking him to the racetrack and Sonic realizes he let his inner child go out of control. He suggests that they go out for cheeseburgers and Amy agrees. The gang goes to McDonald's where Lightning orders a Happy Meal and gets a Mitt Romney action figure. Amber and Flash get a Sonic doll and a Beavis figure, respectively. Sonic learns that he doesn't have to be a kid himself to spend quality time with his children, he just has to be a good dad. They have fun with their action figures, with the gang laughing at Beavis calling Romney "Butt-Head."
Fun Facts: The skee ball scene is a reference to an early 90's episode of The Price is Right where a contestant played the game "Superball!!!" very badly and received the exact same treatment from Bob Barker. Sheila the Cat makes a brief cameo during the McDonald's scene after the Romney toy makes an antisemitic remark upon Lightning pushing the talk button.
Cast:
