Episode 201 - Happiest Place on Mobius
Taped: 9/2/2012
Amy thanks Tails for watching Lightning while she and Sonic take Flash and Amber to a brand new amusement park in Central City called Funtopia. They take their birthday presents with them before embarking in a minivan taxi. Meanwhile, Eggman and Bokkun assess the park which sprang up from out of nowhere on an abandoned polo field. Eggman realizes someone may be trying to out-evil him but Bokkun wants to go there and have fun. He leaves his lair anyway, deciding to investigate it at once. Meanwhile in the car, the kids and Amy tease Sonic while calling him Cookie Monster because he's blue and eating a cookie. Amy then asks herself how Lightning is doing with Tails. Back at home, Lightning breaks Tails' inventions, thinking they are toys hidden under his bed. Tails decides to give him a more appropriate toy for a kid his age, a Rubik's Cube, but Lightning breaks it open and hastily solves it by placing the parts back together. Eggman and Bokkun get a bird's eye view of of the park and watch the minivan taking Sonic over there. At that point, he chooses to take matters into his own hands and heads down to the park but not before setting Bokkun into Spanish mode. The family finally walks inside the park and to get themselves settled, they ride the merry-go-round. Amber plays a carnival game where she has to throw a ball in a basket. She succeeds and wins a giant Chao plushy, which Flash suggests she give to Cream as a souvenir. At home, Lightning complains of the way Tails made his macaroni and cheese, always claiming there's not enough or too much of either. When he knocks his plate on the floor, both are indifferent and agree to watch cartoons instead. Eggman and Bokkun, meanwhile, have scanned the entire park but have found no traces of suspicion. Bokkun thinks they've been out-evilled but Eggman angrily refuses to admit that. Amber and Amy then go on a snail ride while Sonic takes Flash to the Nause-O-Whirl. The suspiciously surly ride operator "falls asleep" and the ride begins spinning out of control and goes full speed when the lever breaks due to his incompetence. The arm they're on eventually breaks off and Amy takes Amber in search of where they ended up. Flash enjoyed the entire ride but Sonic ends up with momentary amnesia. At home, Lightning shows his drawing he made of Tails...on the living room wall. They now have to clean it up because Lightning thought it was okay to draw on the wall since there is a chalkboard in his room. Eggman and Bokkun, meanwhile, are about to give up hope when Eggman suggests he can just destroy it. Bokkun prepares the cannon in order to do so while Sonic settles a claim with the Funtopia's owner for the ride accident. The owner promises he'll run tougher background checks on the operators and give the family free passes for life. Amy even believes the place was better than Twinkle Park. Just as Sonic and Amy give the twins their birthday presents, Eggman arrives and begins zapping everything in sight from the gifts to the rides to the plushy stand. Amy and Sonic get him to stop by telling him the place was built overnight and Eggman refuses to believe it. Stephen Colbert appears out of thin air to back him up and Flash evidently mistakes him for Mitt Romney. The family orders Eggman to clean the park up but he leaves laughing to himself. Amy resolves the matter by buying new presents for the kids and heading home. An hour past his bedtime, Lightning refuses to sleep and turns his bed into a ball. The rest of the family arrives home and Tails tells him the day went fine but they know Lightning gave him a hard time because they told him to misbehave on purpose. Tails wants to go to bed but Sonic and Amy invite him to stay so he can watch the twins open their birthday presents. Amy opens up a miniature Piko-Piko hammer bigger than her old one and Flash gets a brand new pair of hi-tops so he can start running fast. In a voiceover, Stephen Colbert explains that Funtopia was part of the 1% of theme parks that weren't evil, something Eggman never bothered to realize for his own good and does his signature sign-off.
Fun Facts: The twins are now 3 as of this episode. Tails gets his first crack at parenting in preparation for his own child that Cream is still carrying.
